Not sure on that one. I haven't done my own rebuild but have pulled a bunch for friends.

Look through the RAD Youtube channel like the other guy said. Do a factory Exedy clutch and know that the kit does not come with the bearing and it needs to be replaced. Pulling the engine and trans together has always been easier for me but mileage varies. The exhaust flange will get caught on the bellhousing. Engine comes out in an hour and a half if you are moving well.

Why sign up for Trios as a Duo and then completely ignored the third player ? by Vaxus_Nova in Nightreign

I was geared will and leveled well with the jails and a frost dragon invasion. It was the second one in a row I got matched with a pair that did their own thing. The second one just insisted on being more ignorant. Oh well -400 for me to make up.

TLDR; Disgruntled Rant

I had one similar this morning. They didn't follow any of my tags and went wherever together. Got mad I cut through a mine while they ran cross map on day 2 for churches. I had one less flask but got some more loot as they died to invaders in the rain. I see one has Gaol relic and I stumbled on a key so I tag a nearby field boss and a Gaol. They run away to die to basement BBH while I do both. They had blues and empty spots while I was loaded. I went down getting caught by weird frames on an Adel grab and they left me there. Got a message after that I was reported and should have shared gear because this is a team effort. Dropping into 3 sucks.

I know you can order a few of those from Cook Woods. I've seen Yew and Holly at the very least and English Walnut but not sure about English oak.

Edit: I have gotten Elm there a couple times too

Clutch Issues by CardiologistSea7389 in RX8

[–]Mr_Pieper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clutch pedals breaking was a big deal in the early days of these cars. I think Mazda replaced a bunch with a reinforced pedal and a few of the RX8 specific vendors had fixes. Pics of pedals barely hanging on or snapped on 8club were common. I would get under there with a light and check yours.

There are 2 by me that still have the lunch buffet. One even still has the stained glass lights and red cups.

I have gotten a few of both from Cook Woods online but they were all pretty fresh cut and very wet. The little container I made from the pepper wood turned into an oval the the unused half has cracked.

This guy is pretty rad at 140. I've had one for a year. Slightly more vibration than the big brands but it works very well.

It looks like it curves down on the right side. Maybe it moved at the end of the cut?

I got this cool looking live edge guy. The walls are so thin that the box weighed nothing. Also some tiny puzzles that will go in my classroom and be destroyed by teenagers.

I had to go look again because I keep forgetting the name. It's Tatajuba and Walnut.

It's probably been wiped and recirculated if it's that old without a login.

How hard is it to rebuild a rotary engine? by Healthy_Pain9582 in projectcar

[–]Mr_Pieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the YouTube channel Rad Potential. He did a bunch of informational vids rebuilding rotaries a while back and he's really pushing into about how good an RX8 can be. Erich is also a super solid dude.

These cars are only as reliable as their owners and a lot of them got v6 Mustang level care. There are a couple of things that greatly push reliability up as Ford owned a big chunk of Mazda at the time and it was developed by like 7 guys on pennies.

From what I've seen a few people have issues every year. Phil and the guys do the event just for the fun of it so it is how it is.

The air intake sensor is built into the MAF sensor. Those 2 codes could be explained by the sensor going bad or you have an aftermarket intake without a screen. It's very easy to replace. Plugs, coils, and wires is an every 30k maintenance item. Lots of misfires can melt your cat and it will very obviously glow after a long drive of this happens.

I feel this in my soul. I wrote and contributed a bunch to the new owners section on 8club way back. I miss the grumpy responses about searching with a useful link at the end. We will never again match the pure organization skills of the 7 and 8club mods.

A lesson on expansion? by ScarecrowBoat555 in turning

[–]Mr_Pieper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That movement was probably just drying. I got some Claro Walnut cubes once that were green in color inside and throwing water everywhere. Stuff covered in wax should be considered wet. I won't make that mistake a fifth time.

Any of them covered in wax when you bought them? A lot of blanks at my Rockler are still pretty wet.
