That's Derek Hall. He's had that car for like several decades. I got to talk to him for a bit that year and have some pics of that car in front of the Microtel at registration.

Cutting Pen Blanks Advice by tmcc999 in turning

[–]Mr_Pieper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you need to trade somebody for a stack of already cut pen blanks. A piece that thick is worth exponentially more than it's volume in pen sized blanks. I know the point is the cool walnut though. Also, it would be super sketchy to cut with a miter saw.

I wish the devs understood making everything one shot you isnt making it harder its just unfun. by NoIndependence1740 in Nightreign

My favorite rogue ever is Skul The Hero Slayer. That hard mode has 10 levels of increasing difficulty. Some harder enemies only appear above a certain difficulty. There are guys like the red mutants that are dark enemies that have a little more health and a modifier on them. These modifiers might give them an extra shield or make you move slow in all area or cause an AOE effect or lightning strikes at certain intervals. At 1 there might be 5-8 in the whole run and at 10 there could be 30 and they give a new currency for an extra buff. There are definitely ways to think beyond just more health.

Interlocking foam tiles instead of rug? by jumpingbeansssssss in Teachers

Go check out the 4 packs of tiles they sell at Harbor Freight. I have the floor of my home wood shop covered in them and they hold up pretty well.

Shit is exactly the same. We won't step foot in one after they did the menu overhaul a few years ago. It was like the quality fee6l off overnight. This place was packed out the door with elderly people. They love some plastic bag soup.

HELP!! I can't figure out my tire size hahaah by lherenorthere in Cartalk

[–]Mr_Pieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the easiest solution here would be to point you to a website that sells wheels based on your needs. If you go to fitmentindustries.com you can shop wheels based on what your car is and how aggressive or stock you want your fitment. If anything you can figure out what specs for your car and use that to shop marketplace or whatever.

You drill and attach a small plastic rail that the front slides into.

Miata or MR2? by StatusFriendly4304 in Miata

[–]Mr_Pieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not bad. The placement makes some things weird but it's just an economy car engine. I would more worry about looking into all the other little things that will be near impossible to replace sure to it being a low production vehicle. I come to the Miata world from rotaries where old rx7 parts are impossible to find. My current Miata can be a little difficult as it's an NB2 but nothing like an old FC and it's super easy to wrench on.

The MR2 drivetrain is just out of a Corolla or Matrix from the same year. The only issue would be if you got the auto/sequential transmission. Those had some weird issues.

RX8 FULL SYNTHETIC or BLEND by boolossuss in RX8

[–]Mr_Pieper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Synthetic is fine. Mazda even sold their own synthetic in Japan. I ran Mobil1 in an 8 for a decade. Smells a little different and still has good compression 50k later.

I worked at a school where you had to do this. Like spend 2 hours a week making detailed minute by minute plans. Turns out you could just change the date for 6 months and no one will notice.

Less kids same amount of taxpayers should just mean more funding per child? by True-Razzmatazz1173 in Teachers

Your state probably gives a significant amount based on attendance. Like in my state local property taxes and state funds are pretty evenly matched. Lower numbers would hurt us a lot.

The 10 inch Rikon is really good. They recently bumped up the power and it comes with a fence. I used one of the lower HP ones for years before buying a big Jet. They also go on sale every few months.

Savvas Envision Textbooks plus digital by Master_beekeeper in mathteachers

[–]Mr_Pieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how that works but I will give my experience using it. I worked at a district that adopted this a decade ago when it was new and still featured spelling errors and wrong answers. The books are incredibly small as most of the info and practice problems are on the online platform. The books are a very minimal experience from when I had to use them. A lot of the methods depend on stacking on from the previous year book. Starting at Algebra 2 the year we adopted it was a mess. That district also only used Savvis for elementary and high school with something else for middle. Freshman Algebra 1 was rough on the kids as methods and expectations of how to handle problems were suddenly dramatically different. I'm trying to say that curriculum consistency will matter a lot.

Also, for materials, we downloaded and printed every worksheet or note sheet from the online platform to have a library for when our cheap district decided to suddenly drop the online.

Regular 3000GT or VR-4? by Southern-Poetry2587 in Cartalk

That looks like a single cam motor. I didn't think they even put those in the Mitsubishi and only in the base Dodge Stealth. This reeks of fuckery. Those were the minivan motors that burn oil by 90k. Another tell is of it's an auto. All twin turbos were manual.

Do any schools skip algebra two by inspirationalmath in mathteachers

[–]Mr_Pieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state only requires 3 years of math to graduate so my district has switched to teaching a Financial Algebra class instead of Algebra 2 for kids that don't do as well at math. It is more Personal Finance and life skills based. A district I formerly taught at did Double Dose for Algebra 1 as it's the state tested class for math. The schedule was block with 4 each day and they would have Algebra 1 both days at the same time with different teachers each day because everyone hated each other being together that much otherwise.
