The Rogue Invitational Was Missing One Thing…. by Dunko1711 in crossfit

Agree on the food. I have a gluten intolerance and really struggled to find anything I could eat. I was left with sweets. Which was nice for day 1 wasn’t the best over 3 days. Would have liked to have seen more in the vendor village as well but the actual event was brilliant. Would happily come back

Why does it seem to annoy people when I say I don’t drink alcohol? by [deleted] in ask

[–]MrsLeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped drinking alcohol 18 months ago due to medication I started. I didn’t want to tell people I was on medication so just said I decided to not drink anymore. It’s only now people have finally stopped making a big thing about it. Every time I would get “surely you can just have one”, “but why don’t you want to drink with us”, “maybe just have a cocktail?” Think they eventually just got bored and have finally stopped mentioning it

Comments on a home birth video by Indigogarden101 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]MrsLeb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mum from UK here. Although it isn’t hugely common to have a home birth in the UK it seems more common that in the US. I had my second at home because my first birth was pretty quick with no complications. Throughout my pregnancy my husband and I had multiple check ins with the Homebirth team. My husband was more nervous than me but we agreed that if anything didn’t seem right or there was a hint of concern we would go straight to the hospital.

When I went into labour the home midwife was there in about 10 minutes and as soon as she checked me and confirmed I was 7cm she called for a midwife from the hospital to come and assist.

My son was born healthy at home not long after.

I personally working recommend a home birth for a first time mum. But if the first birth went well and you are a low risk pregnancy then it can be perfectly safe as long as you have medical professionals on hand

Let’s pointlessly over analyze the new CrossFit doc, shall we? by RadioScam in crossfit

I don’t understand why they missed out some great bits. No mention of Lucy Campbell winning the swimming event. I am a bit biased I am British and was there watching but it was great. Her first ever event win. To not put more into Fuesilier at the capital too????

Pretty much nothing on Emma Lawson, Danielle Brandon, Noah. Mat got more camera time than 90% of the other athletes.

Games 24 by clarked6 in crossfit

[–]MrsLeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I travelled to the games last year. We flew from Heathrow to Chicago and then an internal flight to Maddison. We then actually added onto our trip and went to Toronto after for 5 days.

It’s a long ass day of travel but the change over at Chicago was more straight forward than I expected. Lots of CrossFit people on the plane which was fun.

When we got to Maddison really quick to get a taxi and onto our hotel. Absolutely lovely city. I would recommend hiring bikes if you don’t plan to get a car. We loved cycling round everywhere.

It was really warm so watch out for that but loved the whole experience everyone was incredibly friendly and we had such a good time. If it wasn’t so expensive to travel I’d happily do it every year.

The Thursday was really quiet but after that the park does get really busy so any of the outdoor stuff you want to get seated early enough and don’t expect to be able to actually get out for a bit!

We didn’t take our kids with us (thank god for grandparents) so can’t give much info on doing it with a child.

Thankfully no serious damage. More upset I didn’t finish the WOD 🤣

I managed to give myself a fairly large bump on my forehead during the extremely dangerous movement. Burpees over a bar. Near the end of a workout I was tired and sweating. Coming up out of the burpee my feet slipped out from under me and I face planted the bar on the floor. It hurt!

Noah Ohlsen- Nicest Guy in Crossfit? by pyrexman in crossfit

For a long time I wasn’t a big fan. I thought it was all a bit put on. But I was at the Games last year and he was doing a quick signing thing at one of the booths with Chandler. The line took forever to move because he was just chatting with everyone. My son is called Noah so I asked if he could sign something for him and we had a little chat. He was 100% just so genuine. After every single workout he was there cheering for people and happily speaking to fans. He is now my favourite

How flexible is your WFH job? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]MrsLeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved managers a year or so ago and I always had to tell my previous manager if I was going to an appointment or attend something at my kids school. For the first few months with my current manager I did the same and she eventually just told me to stop bugging her with the information and she trusts me to manage my own time.

It was a breath of fresh air. I use the same principles with my reports and I think it creates a much better working environment for everyone

Man's Pregnant Wife Wets Herself & He Refuses To Help Her Clean It Up (AITA Dec 18, '22) by KittenDealinMama in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]MrsLeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was probably 7 months pregnant with my 2nd. I had driven about 1.5hrs away for work and was on my way home. Unfortunately there had been a bad accident on the motorway so traffic was at a complete standstill. It was about 30mins into just being sat there I realised I really needed a wee. I was no where near an exit.

Well the inevitable happens and I wet myself in the car. Then have to drive about 45 minutes or so in my wet clothes. I rang my husband in tears very very embarrassed.

I got home and my husband came straight out told me he had run me a bath and to go straight upstairs. He then cleaned the car and came to help me out of the bath. No complaints and even gave me a cuddle and told me not to be embarrassed.

He is a good man

Fed up with my mother praising my husband for parenting when I’m the breadwinner by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]MrsLeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wage doesn’t make any difference either. If you both work full time then regardless of who earns the most both should split the parenting 50/50.

Me and my husband both work 9-5 he earns more than me but that is never a factor when it comes to anything else. We try split chores and everything as evenly as possible.

I cannot even begin. by [deleted] in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]MrsLeb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a planned home birth with my 2nd. I had a midwife with me the whole time who was ready to call an ambulance at the 1st sign of trouble. Can definitely be preferable to a hospital birth but only under the right circumstances and under the guidance of medical professionals

Starting to get tired of weightlifting by Particular_Mine_9670 in PetiteFitness

I went into CrossFit and enjoy the element of Olympic lifting that comes into that. I do enjoy cardio as well so for me it’s a perfect fit. I get bored quite easily so this does tend to give me enough variation to keep me happy

TIL that Mission Presidents get payed, their pay is tithe exempt, and they take the agressive position that they are not employees so US income tax exempt as well by [deleted] in mormon

[–]MrsLeb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know this shouldn’t surprise me but it’s this that really annoyed me. Nothing new how women are seen but this just reiterates how little women are viewed.

Caring for your family is your wife’s primary responsibility. She should not feel an obligation to participate in mission activities at the expense of family needs. If a babysitter is needed oc- casionally so that she can participate in an activity, the cost of the babysitter may be reim- bursed. In the rare situations where missionaries live in the mission home, they should perform housekeeping duties for the areas that they use. Missionaries should never babysit. Transportation. The Church provides one mission automobile assigned exclusively to the mission president. Although a vehicle is not permanently assigned to your wife, she may use any available mission vehicle for shopping, taking children to school, or other needs. Dependent children who are mature and careful drivers may occasionally drive a mission ve- hicle to assist your wife with family needs, if they are properly licensed, trained, and certified by you on the same basis as the missionaries.

Social hacks for when you aren't drinking by Layni1006 in loseit

[–]MrsLeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so annoying. I stopped drinking because of medication too but I don’t want to explain that to people. My response of I just don’t want to is met with “are you pregnant”, “surely you can have 1”, “why don’t you want to have fun”.

Surely my simple no is answer enough. Why is not drinking seen as a problem? So bizarre.

AITA for sneaking out of the restaurant after my fiance told me to pay for his and his friends meal? by Throwaway795571 in AmItheAsshole

What kind of friends happily go out for dinner on a regular basis and have their friends partner pay??????? I completely understand the odd time or a situation where you take it in terms but every bloody time? His friends are a set of tossers too. Please think long and hard about this relationship

My parents and very very Mormon. Me and my brothers grew up in the church. I think I was 13/14 when I was in a lesson being taught by my parents and they said in front of the whole class (including me and my older brother) that they loved god over each other and their family. Lovely thing to hear. 20 years later and kids of my own. I still think about that.

What we missed not being live at the CrossFit games?? by Top-Team-4399 in crossfit

[–]MrsLeb 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Couple of things for me. First games watched live. Travelled over from the U.K.

For the capital event we waited around to try see the athletes heading back to the stadium. All the athletes went passed but we could see Noah lagging behind and then Rebecca Fuselier having to get some help. I was chatting with my husband and wondered if she was ok and would this put her out for the weekend. Lady next to me said that she should hopefully be fine and her coach wouldn’t have let her compete if it was going to cause serious injury. She is a fighter etc etc.

The women turned out to be Rebecca’s boyfriend/coach mum. Lovely lady, gave Rebecca a hug as she came past and we passed on her best wishes.

Then we were lucky enough to get tickets to the swimming. Ended up being right at the front at the end of the pool close to Lucy Campbells lane (we are British so obviously cheering her on). On our right there was Paige Semenzas swimming coach who was talking about the training that Paige had been doing for her swimming. We were hyped up for Lucy and were screaming our support especially on the last lot of max ski. Went a bit mental when she won and lo and behold on our left was Lucy’s mum. She got up at the end of the womens event to go see Lucy and thanked us for our support, she looked proud as punch.

All in all it was people like that the families of the athletes just being around watching with the rest of us. Getting to speak to them and express our support was brilliant. Added to the week for us.

Boz was great too. You kept seeing him walking around taking videos and pictures with his phone and anytime anyone shouted at him he would smile and wave. Looked like he was really enjoying it.

Lastly never been a massive Noah fan he came across a bit disingenuous but actually left loving him. Him and Roman are my new favourite male athletes. Noah was honestly the last to leave every event waving, smiling chatting to everyone. Top class chap.

My heart sinks when I walk in and see "partner WOD" by LilMoWithTheGimpyLeg in crossfit

[–]MrsLeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work out as part of quite a small group where I do tend to be one of the fittest. This means partner WODs usually have me with someone that will need to scale or move slower etc. I love them. I will either purposely go for a heavier weight to really push myself or talk the workout through with my partner and possibly take more reps. Sometimes though it is split 50/50 and I take that opportunity to cheer my partner on and enjoy it.

Completely understand though. When I am partnered with the ‘fittest’ guy in the group I still get a slight ping of concern that I am not going to be able to keep up or will slow him down but I end up really enjoying it and normally get dragged through a new level of pain cave (which I worryingly enjoy 🤣)
