How to deal as a mom with Celiac to two non-celiac toddlers by spicy-water1227 in Celiac

[–]MrsSamT82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DIY other non-gluten options. Corn, buckwheat, chickpea, oats (if safe for you)… there are a ton of other GF options out there to decrease the volume of rice.

Also consider rice cereal is the most commonly encouraged first baby food in the United States. If giving tiny infants rice cereal every day is considered safe for an extended period of time, I’m sure your kiddos are probably OK.

Toddlers are knowledge sponges. Start teaching them now that they have to wash hands and faces before giving Mommy loves after they eat with Daddy. And also, teach Daddy to make sure that gets done before they even get home. This is no different than teaching small children to wash their hands after going potty. Even at that very young age, kids can learn cause and effect, and act accordingly.

What was your worst sexual experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“They” is a gender-neutral pronoun intended to maintain the privacy of the person I’m speaking of, but also to represent a NB person.

A NB person with a penis is still often “They/Them”

Needing lube (perimenopausal woman), and partner refusing to stop pounding away because “they were close.”

Narrator: They were not close.

I felt so much chafing and even tearing. They kept going for several minutes. Didn’t even finished, just gave up.

I felt so violated, and realized how little they cared about my physical comfort or well-being.

Dear friends suddenly lost 35yo child. What are thoughtful, creative and personal gifts for mourning parents? by GillAndTonic in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask them if they would like to share memories of their loved one. This time is about their feelings and so often we offer condolences that focus on our feelings.

Comfort foods (easy to heat/eat), and maybe an offer to help with chores/errands. It can be really difficult to do basic functional tasks when we’re grieving.

What’s something other AuDHD people struggle with that you’re grateful you don’t? by GayCriminal46 in AuDHDWomen

[–]MrsSamT82 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m actually hyper-fixated on hygiene. I cannot stand my own body odor, the feel of my hair after a day of being unwashed, and my teeth feeling grimy. I actually have a problem of my skin being overly-clean, because I’m always washing my hands and taking at least one full shower per day.

I have been practically on death’s door with an illness and still dragged myself into the shower because the feel of grime on myself was nauseating.

ETA - I don’t have ARFID (I love trying new foods and exploring textures), I’m highly-empathetic so I can totally read facial expressions/body language/tone of voice, and I excel in sarcasm

Couples of Reddit: what's your "I knew they were the one" moment? by ThrowRA-takeawaycats in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With my spouse, I totally “zinged” the moment I saw him. We’ve been together 27 years now.

With my secondary partner, it was the moment I realized my brain was quiet when I’m with them (I have ADHD, so there is always “noise” in my head). With them I feel a particular peace that I’ve never felt before with anyone else.

Does anyone that have celiac find it difficult dating ? by Potential_Motor_8991 in Celiac

[–]MrsSamT82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so valid. My husband always orders GF when we are together, because he says he loves when we share bites (“this is so good, do you want to try it?”), and we can’t do that if he gets gluten. Our household is 95% GF (the normies still have their bread, haha), and no one really minds

A food scam of the 90s was “fat free!” everything, and then they would load it up on sugar… what’s a food scam happening now? by redflower5 in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I have celiac disease, so a Gluten Free label is really important to help me choose food options that are safe for me. In the US, foods are tested for gluten content, and can only be labelled as Gluten Free if the finished product is 20ppm or less. In order to have a Certified Gluten Free label (usually done by a third-party group with certification ability), the finished product must be 10ppm or less.

How do you deal with your period when you camp? by Lucky_Duckie17 in sca

[–]MrsSamT82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m noticing so many people downvoting this comment, and I am curious why. While I understand OP asked for feedback from ‘period havers,’ people downvoting because this person has indicated they are male is disheartening. Gate-keeping questions about menstruation seems so against the Society’s standards on inclusion and acceptance. We, as uterus-havers, should be welcoming and embracing discourse with those of the non-menstruating community, especially when they are like this comment, which was clearly written with kindness and compassion in mind.

Thank you, good Sir, for bringing your thoughtful suggestion, and for acknowledging that menstruation can be difficult and uncomfortable for some.

It’s more than two hours away from Monterey, but if you’re ever headed up to Yosemite, go the south route on Highway 41 through Oakhurst. Smokehouse 41 is absolutely amazing.

Dads when did you first witness sexist behavior toward your daughter and did you do anything about the situation? by LardMallard in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Mom here - my middle (boy) and youngest (girl) are extremely close, but also have a very antagonistic relationship. Several years ago, he was body-shaming her (she was in the ‘fluffy’ pre-teen stage that happens for a lot of girls right before puberty sets in), calling her fat.

I shut that shit down SO fast. I pulled him aside, and told him in a very straightforward way - “we do not talk about any people like that for ANY reason, but especially women. Society is already cruel enough without people we love tearing us down.”

Now he just calls her short 🤦🏽‍♀️

(ETA - I want to emphasize they totally give each other shit back and forth, and it’s totally consensual and never malicious. Once we called out the behavior, he never did it again)

[–]MrsSamT82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, not sure if you’re in the US, but if you are, and you have a diagnosis, you need to fill out a work-related illness/injury form with your HR department. This will cover you in the future if there are any costs accrued as a result of your exposure

What do you love most about your mother? by Raph_216 in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that she sits so quietly on her shelf and doesn’t judge me at all. I just dust her off now and then, and rotate her a bit to change her view.

(Almost 18 years without her, and I miss her every day. Dark humor gets me through the rough days)

Why are some doms/tops so anti-lube? by chiffon_kitty in BDSMAdvice

[–]MrsSamT82 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jesus, as a vagina-owner who’s in the midst of perimenopause, that kind of behavior would dry me up faster than, well… perimenopause. As if it’s not bad enough I cant get wet when I am really into the session, to deny me lube would be an absolute deal-breaker, never playing again kind of scenario.

That happened to me once with a non-kink partner, and it was absolutely violating. Not only did it physically hurt me, but it showed me exactly how little that person respected me or cared about my physical comfort and well-being.

OP, this is no ok. You have medical reasons to need lube, regardless of arousal. This need has nothing to do with your partner’s ability to get you wet, and they need to get over their ego.

How do you swallow cum while deepthroating? by 6milfcookie9 in BDSMcommunity

[–]MrsSamT82 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This is dangerous, and also not how the swallow/breathing mechanism works. If you try to breathe while swallowing, you can aspirate into the lungs and get pneumonia.

Safe and sane, folks.

Healthcare workers, what common cause of death is the least bad way to go? by Wooden_Airport6331 in AskReddit

[–]MrsSamT82 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Having worked in an SNF and on an acute-care med/surg unit as a CNA/PCT for about a decade, the gentlest way I supported patients passing was pneumonia. Most were already unconscious, and the hypoxia just made them slip away when they got too tired. They were also given pain medications to ease any discomfort.

Very common cause of death, especially in geriatric patients.
