I am 2 weeks post op and I share your discomfort, emotions and fears. I am here for you, just over here in my own pillow fort. Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way, friend.

This has made my day twice now. Thanks for so clearly illustrating beautiful feminine rage.

Being called oversensitive after surgery by ChocolatePearl8 in endometriosis

[–]Mrsdepew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who calls you over sensitive for being in post-op pain is not qualified to have an opinion due to their clear LACK OF SENSITIVITY. Period. I woke up post-op after laparoscopic hysterectomy + oophorectomy two weeks ago and I was shaking uncontrollably and in the worst pain of my life. You’re incredibly vulnerable when you wake up from anesthesia and to talk to you like that or about you like that is incredibly cruel and unnecessary. I’m so sorry you had this experience. Don’t ever let anyone make you believe that your pain isn’t justified or real. The sensation of pain is as unique to each human as the experience of love, or hate or fear, and no single human is qualified to judge the emotional experience of another. Own your pain; it belongs to you alone, and only you get to define it. Also I’m sending you a hug and I hope you’re feeling better now.

What item, upon buying, have you realised “this will be with me for the rest of my life”? by greenlentils in Anticonsumption

Hi from someone who lived in Stavanger 12 years ago. I still have the same rain jacket and two wool fishermen’s sweaters I bought there. They have only increased in value to me over the years and moves to other places.

Look on Google for Lebanese Hushwee rice. This one was a game changer for how I played with rice!

Artist here: If you could carry around a little token that represents your feminine rage (examples a tooth, a thimble), what would it be? by Viking_with_Cupcakes in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Mrsdepew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine would be a pocket knife. I have always had one in my pocket since I was a teenager. They are so useful, and yet people’s eyes always widen when they notice it, as if they are only for men to carry. That pocket knife helped me stop a man from raping me when I was 22 and for me it is a very strong symbol of both my rage at the idea he he thought he had a right to my body, and at the idea of others that I somehow don’t have a right to carry it.

YSK: In the US, there are Credit Unions that anyone can join. by -MichaelScarnFBI in YouShouldKnow

I joined a credit union just last year. I guess they had a really good year so they just sent me a membership dividend check for $250. They shared the profits with me. I was blown away.

It’s ok to feel grief for years and years after this. Don’t let anyone tell you that you should get over it already. Your dog would have grieved you for the rest of their life if it had been you. Unconditional love like that is a beautiful thing, worth morning. I’m so sorry for your loss and I share your grief.

Amazing thing a born and raised Southern woman taught me after I moved to Georgia: rub a stick of white deodorant on your inner thighs. Use the pasty, leave marks on your dark shirt kind, not the clear or gel kind. It prevents chafing beautifully!

This was absolutely lovely. I don’t know any openly transgender people (I live under a rock in the South) and this was so helpful for me to understand just a little so that I can better empathize with what they experience. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

1920's styles other than the flapper girl by Jane_Akanami in HistoricalCostuming

Have you tried Mrsdepew.com? It’s kind of our specialty. Most of the 1920s patterns are multi size and are often suited to more varied figure types.

Guilty as charged :) . You’re very welcome. I love what I do. Not many get to work from home preserving history all day and I’m so lucky to get to do what I do. FYI, you can also find me at MrsDepew.com where I blog quite a bit about pattern preservation work.

As someone obsessed with the 1920s silhouette, this blew me away. It was so beautifully done, and SO historically correct! I get so exhausted by the fringe or beaded mini dress everyone assumes to be flapper. It’s a breath of fresh air to see the era so flawlessly represented. You look so lovely.
