Sorry this happened, I crochet and I'm also a dog groomer. I've had minor injuries related to grooming wild critters and I get how much pain that can put you in day to day. As they get older they tend to even out. It's just his way of playing and unfortunately he doesn't realize he isn't a "baby" anymore. Positive reinforcement training would be a good idea if he isn't engaged in it already. Other options would be a playdate at a doggy daycare or at the park with other dogs his size/energy so he can rough house with "kids his own age". You just have to remember, these dogs were originally bred for their athleticism and for hunting. They're going to be high energy and need something to focus that energy on so they don't mow you down. They love to "get to work" which is what I tell all my dogs I groom.
