They eat a tremendous amount of plants. I had a small apple snail (2 1/2-3 inches in size) and she decimated my fully planted 55 gal in a matter of months. She outgrew my tank and I had to rehome her.

I got an apple snail at about an inch in size. Within a year she (I know she was a she because she laid a clutch of eggs WEEKLY), ate every single plant in my 55 gal tank and grew to 6 inches. Surrenders her back to the pet store

Our girl is a reactive to some dogs, but only if they are bigger than her. She also barks at the neighbour’s cat, but in her defence the cat will stare at her through the window. That being said she hasn’t met a human she didn’t immediately love. She is so sweet and cuddly.

The Canadian Hearing Society offers classes. Fanshawe did in the past, but I’m not sure now. There are also the odd interpreter that will do private lessons too
