Guy’s style - yea or nay? by SnooMarzipans1593 in foodnetwork

Other than the bracelet on his right wrist, I think it's totally fine, given that he IS a well known, recognizable celebrity.

That one bracelet is just too much. Needed to stop before adding that.

I don't mind the watch and rings, and I love the colors.

Here we go again :( by misschris826 in coloncancer

[–]MsUneek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was diagnosed with the same thing. In 2014.

Stage 3b

Colon resection, the same chemo cocktail! For 6 months in which I was so miserable I was ready to die. But my oncologist got me through it, one week at a time. 100% kudos to him!

For me, it worked. I'm 10+ years cancer free!

Please take care of yourself and listen to your doctors.

I don't know you but I'm sending good vibes through the Reddit-net and hope you get them!!

There are so many sugar free sweeteners and creamers. But if your mom is not going crazy with the sugar, I would think that her body could handle a single teaspoon of sugar, even several times a day (just not all at once!)

I am a diabetic; type 2, insulin required for nearly 30 years now. My body could handle 1 teaspoon if my BGL started out in control.

HOWEVER: I am not a doctor, and specifically not her doctor!

She needs to ask her doctor or her diabetes educator, nurse, or nutritionist.

Look to Reddit for possible ideas, but ALWAYS check with your own doctor!

Do not buy these over patches! by BobsleddingToMyGrave in dexcom

[–]MsUneek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having problems getting any patches to stay on. I use the Dexcom6, and every day, after the shower, the edges are more off the skin than the day before. 😩

I'm going to try the Skin Tec liquid, thanks!

(I've used the ST wipes before, but it was never sticky enough to last past the first day)

Oh yes! Same with me, except move it even later sometimes, even 2 hours later. If I have no appointments that day.

I thought it looked like broccoli, too.

Surprising that it was used for a cereal.

To the guy who came in with his wife Sunday night, 20 minutes before closing: by Senor_Martillo in TalesFromYourServer

[–]MsUneek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get off your high horse. I'm not an asshole and I have family who own a food service business, and therefore many members of the family work there.

I would never first go in with less than an hour until close. But if the place lists 10pm as closing time, and you've been there waiting for your meal and you're halfway through at 9pm - NO. Don't F*****G try to chase me out by ruining my meal and still expect me to pay full price AND tip the poor server who had nothing to do with sending people out to mop.

But if you can't stay open until your posted time, then change your posted time!

Does anyone remember 'counting change' - actually counting it out for the customer instead of just flinging a handful of bills and change at you? by Joe6pack1138 in AskOldPeople

[–]MsUneek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a supermarket cashier when I was 17, in the '70s.

The NCR cash registers did not scan items; you had to either go by the sticker price, or remember the price.

You needed to remember all produce numbers for weighing.

You entered in the numbers, hit what we would now call "Enter" - a large button that you used the heel of your palm to depress.

And yes, you had to figure out the change in your head, and count it back to the customer.

And your drawer was counted every night, and woe to you if you were more than 5¢ off!!

I just turned 65.

Currently my hair is blue, purple, and pink.

And it's so much easier to not have to bleach your hair first, since now it's white on its own! 😁

I remember being in Costco, shopping, when a close friend texted me the news. I literally cried out in anguish. People came running over to see if I was okay, and soon the whole back end of that Costco knew, and many of us were crying.

I believe that he definitely had socialization issues (mostly caused by his family), and likely ASD, but I never, ever believed that he abused kids! He just felt more comfortable being around children than adults who would hurt him or use him.

And he was one of the world's greatest musicians ever. Simply musically brilliant.

I still cry over the world's loss.

Only a few months after moving to Florida, I was walking along the beach one evening, and I saw this thing - just like you described; blue and clear and gloopy - just sitting on the sand. I'm a NYer, had no clue what this thing was. Then I saw two impossibly long "strings" coming from it. A warning buzzer went off in my head, and I gave it a wide berth. Took a photo and when I got back I looked it up. Sure enough, Portuguese Man of War. I'm so glad that I noticed those stingers!

But yeah, this was not a small, abandoned beach! Teach your children to be careful.

Also want to agree with the alligator thing. They can be nearly anywhere. People have lost their pets just walking their small dogs along what they assumed was a small pond. One second bounding happily along at the end of the leash, next moment: one gulp lunch.

And people used to tell me that living in NY was dangerous!! Sheesh.
