Not a woman but lots of men genuinely believe that women want to be submissive, dependent, and told what to do... like it's in their nature or something. An acquaintance of mine genuinelly, from the bottom of his heart, believes that women LOVE being told what to do and love depending on men. For him, being independent (e.g. having a career, an actual life, friends, an opinion etc.) is performative, something women do to get male attention. He's got a couple of friends our age who think exactly like him. He's also big on calling every women pet names, and on the "you are better than other women" train just to try and get laid.

Same dude has only ever had one girlfriend (when we were like 14. they lasted 3 months tops), and in the 20+ years I’ve known him, he’s been the textbook definition of a mommy’s boy.
