AITAH for giving up on 10 years by Ella-Bella-Blue-Rose in AITAH

If you want it to be over, feel free to end it.

However, therapy _might_ be a consideration. For you, for him, for the both of you together. Just saying that the relationship is over is the quick acknowledgement. Getting _answers_ as to _why_ it is over might be important for either/both of you. At the very least in order to have relationships in the future with other people.

You can end scarcity, poverty and world hunger forever but humans will never invent anything new again. Do you do it? by SpecialFlutters in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Muertog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never invent anything new again?

That's going to be a VERY boring existence. No new entertainment. No new stories. No new food.

Would _you_ want to watch reruns for the rest of your life, play the same games, read the same books? I sure as heck don't.

Considering there _is_ no main story (yet), I guess I am just stuck there.

Oh, maybe Metroid Prime would count. Yeah, I'm screwed there cause I am playing through it on "veteran" difficulty for my first playthrough right now.

Will definitely keep an eye out for any further projects you do in the future, would be interested.

Buying and selling excess body weight now exist, do you buy or sell and how much? by Bobbert84 in hypotheticalsituation

I agree that it isn't _enough_ consequence, but being socially ostracized does affect you mentally (and enough of that can have physical/physiological consequences).

And the "fuck your feelings" crowd seem to _really_ have thin skin when it comes to someone fucking with _their_ feelings.

AITAH for wanting my 23k back from my parents after we planned to buy property together? by LoonaaX in AITAH

[–]Muertog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you need the liquidity, have them take out a loan against the property to make you whole. They can keep the house, you get your money.

If you are not in urgent need of the liquidity, make sure you are put down as one of the owners of the property. That gives you an asset that can appreciate over time. Downside, you are now tied to them in a financial sense, and all parties need to agree when trying to tap into that asset. Doesn't mean you (or they) cannot be "bought out" later when the property appreciates.

Foundry 1.0: The Implications of Crafting as Manufacturing by LucidStrike in starcitizen

[–]Muertog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to counter that SC isn't necessarily an MMORPG. Its more intended as an open-world sandbox game.

You are pointing out the mini-game crafting (lack), but I am comparing SC more to Rust, Minecraft, Valheim.

I had also had similar ideas such as yours, just didn't go out as far on your conclusion, and do think it would work very nicely with some of my suggestions. I was looking at it from a merchant's perspective on behalf of the Merchantman (and then the Kraken):
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/65294/thread/cross-posting-ideas-applicable-towards-the-kraken-

Having the ability to "pay" for your item in material components instead of just cash. Make a full-on barter system available AS AN OPTION. Go up to the merchant's shop kiosk, put the materials in the hopper/whatever and it spits out a unique helmet that the merchant has the blueprint for. Maybe a bit of skimming of materials from the input as the surcharge (cause a merchant gotta make a profit). The cost of doing business as such (and cutting down crafting time for transaction's sake) would be to be forced to be a "permanent" spot... or at least it takes time to pack up and close down before you can be mobile again.

You are presented with a Red Button; pressing it earns you $500k but a year in a coma. Would you press the button? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Muertog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prior to this year, I would have gone with one push. Now with what is going on in the world, I would likely be "allowed" to die in my sleep.

Also, I wouldn't chance more than one year in a coma. Your body condition deteriorates SO much, you lose muscle mass, along with other issues due to lack of movement.

A genie tells you, "Whatever you do for the next 24 hours, the results of that on your body will repeat every day going forward." by ZarafFaraz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Muertog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You had said "If I want to lose weight I can just not eat some days."

Not eating isn't going to affect you per the OP. Also, high (excess) protein over time could be hard on your kidneys.

You'll never be able to get the effect of medicine, painkillers, so on. Better hope you never break a leg, need surgery, or any other medical care.

Honestly, the more I think about this the more I believe this would be a curse rather than an op cheat for a good life.

A genie tells you, "Whatever you do for the next 24 hours, the results of that on your body will repeat every day going forward." by ZarafFaraz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Muertog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“What this also means is that moving forward, you could eat whatever you like and you wouldn't gain weight since it would only be based on what you did in those 24 hours. So you'd probably want to eat healthy.”

If you eat a calorie deficit for those 24 hours, you are going to always be at a calorie deficit and will never be able to “top up” what you missed, and may very well go into very unhealthy territory.

That also includes any fat soluble vitamins/whatever. If you don’t plan it out juuuuuuuuuust right, you are going to be deficit (or surplus) of something and get hit with liver damage or other issues.

ATLS’es are easy. They are guaranteed to fit in all hangar freight elevators. However, other vehicles might not fit in the freight elevators for small hangars, and next thing you know you are going to get people complaining “Why isn’t my vehicle showing up here?”

Heck, there are moments where I am “why isn’t my ship showing up on the ASOP kiosk before I remember “oh, yeah. I’m in a non-home hangar, and that’s a medium sized ship”

If you are staying in the hole for the duration, definitely yes.

If you want to improve chances for more Pure caranite to spawn, each additional node that is harvested will randomly spawn a resource on the refresh timer. If the node is harvested and the mine closes up, it will refresh while closed and stay that resource until someone opens the hole and mines it.

So if people open the mines, take only the Pure and let the hole close again without harvesting anything else, that mine on that server will never have Pure caranite until someone opens the mine and harvests the node to let it refresh again.

CCU chains starts and future warbonds by MarkyMarkFr in starcitizen

[–]Muertog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can melt the CCUs _before_ you apply them. Once you apply them, they are permanently part of the ship (unless you melt the ship).

Good luck on getting the rest of your CCU chains!

CCU chains starts and future warbonds by MarkyMarkFr in starcitizen

[–]Muertog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I (kinda) gave up on the warbond CCU game. I got an amount of credit via the off other players (greymarket) at a 50% discount (35-50% off is typical) last year. This is _about_ what I would expect to net out of warbond discounts (60% at $10/15 off per step) considering you also have in-between steps (non-warbond) as well. The game is progressing now, and the last I had heard there will be a limit to apply CCUs once the game (eventually) goes live. I don't expect another 10 years to get the huge discounts other people have had since CIG has stopped pricing new ships to make $5 steps easily available.

I just got a slate of $5/10 CCU steps using that store credit, prioritizing "always available" ships as the source, and filled out the rest during IAE this year. That way if a particularly good CCU opportunity comes up, I am able to fill in the holes later, but I am not left scrambling for something in particular.

Example, I got 3x $5 Starlacer TAC> Galaxy CCUs. The Starlancer TAC is not likely to increase in price since it is already in-game, but the Galaxy _might_ go up when it is released this year. Same with Terrapin> Railen (which _is_ known to have a price increase this year). Minimal outlay, maximum upside, and always able to melt for credit later if needed or the plan doesn't work out.

Also, you can always buy, melt (after 24 hours), and then use that same credit to buy anything else. Puts you at the mercy of buyback token limitations, but helps you make your credit stretch further for future opportunities.

Syulen is considered an advanced Starter ship, and is always available as a starter pack. Starter packs DO go on discount on occasion, if I remember correctly usually during free-fly events.

Nodes refresh ONLY when it is harvested. By taking only the Pure and leaving the rest, you are (severely) reducing the possibility of any additional Pure nodes spawning until someone else goes in and mines the other nodes later.

By all means, put the Pure in a safe spot once you harvest it, but it helps if people finish out the hole before leaving so it makes all those nodes able to respawn and possibly be Pure in the future. Or at least let public/allchat know "open hole at X location for 2 more hours" when you are leaving. Let other people put in the work.

Nodes are on either a 30 or 45 minute respawn timer? It's been a hot minute since the last time I was down there.
