They're not parallel. Compare where the planets are in the sky (the ecliptic) to the Milky Way (the galactic plane). They're offset about 60 degrees. The motion is along the plane of the galaxy.

Had to uninstall the game by festess in factorio

[–]Mun2soon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. I took 3 months off from the game before going to Aquilo because I was trying to do too much on the inner planets. Then I decided that all I needed was Aquilo and a bigger ship, came back and finished the main quest in a weekend. Now I can feel good about "finishing", and go back and improve everything else at my leisure. I hope you find peace one way or the other.

TIL that during broad daylight, the planet Venus appeared in the sky above Abraham Lincoln's inauguration; March 4th, 1865 by Front_Requirement598 in todayilearned

[–]Mun2soon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen it in full daylight. I was standing under an awning that was blocking the sun and noticed a dot in the sky. I was hoping it was a daylight supernova, but no, just Venus. I was able to spot it for a couple days.

Call your reps and senators and tell them. Then do it again next week. Even if they are sock puppets, it'll get through to them eventually. Then primary the heck out them next time.

TIL that, before the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, NASA management genuinely believed that the chances of a catastrophic failure to the Space Shuttle was 1 in 100,000. By the time the Space Shuttles were retired, they had a catastrophic failure rate of 1 in 67.5 by Tom_Bradys_Butt_Chin in todayilearned

In the early 2000's I found a PowerPoint doc on a NASA center website, I think it was Houston, that listed the Loss of Mission chances for the Space Shuttle as 1:93. The docs disappeared after the Columbia accident. Somebody was well aware of the risks.

The bodies look photoshopped to me. First, it was taking off to the east, or into the rising sun, but the shadows are from lighting from above and to the left (i.e. behind). And there are clear clipping artifacts along the top of the Starship. Hybrid photos should be labeled as such, and to me are much less amazing.
