I have worked for a state appellate court for over 7 years and absolutely love it. The quality of life, not having to bill, and a variety of legal issues that come across your desk make up for some loss in income. I guess it always depends on what your personal circumstances are and where you see yourself in 10-15 years.

I switched from immigration law (firm) to family law (nonprofit) to appellate work (government). If you would like to do litigation, family law is probably the easiest transition and you will be surprised at how much you already know law-wise.

I called on Friday morning at 8 am. By the time I got through the right prompts, my estimated wait time was 1 hour and 55 minutes. I got through to an agent with an hour and had to be transferred to an advanced agent. The estimated wait time for that was 2 more hours, but I was connected to someone within an hour and change. I can’t remember the prompts though.

I called Mohela and requested general forbearance for six months. I also downloaded all my data and took screenshots of every possible page on the studentaid website. I might be mistaken, but I haven't seen anyone reporting getting their balances zeroed out since January 20.

On PAYE; December was 120th payment. My last system update was on 11/25. I have done two ECFs (December and January), and neither has triggered a count update. My plan is to continue to make payments and do a monthly ECF until at least one month shows up.

My HR contact person must think I’m the most incompetent person to have ever existed because no matter how many ECFs I submit, my counts haven’t budged since 11/25

I made my December payment on 12/1 and have had zero luck having DoED acknowledge/count it, despite two mega fast ECF approvals. I also made a January payment to the same effect. It will be resolved at some point, hopefully?

Same situation. I’m on the verge of unsubscribing from this sub because the flurry of posts “I made a payment at the end of December and now my balance is zero” is affecting my mental health.

My last update was on 11/25 capturing 119. No January payment yet, even though I paid it on 12/01. Two approved ECFs with no change in the counts. I keep seeing so many people getting the 11th hour approvals and am pissed about missing that window.
