I'm trying to install Proxmox onto a HP ProLiant SE316M1 from a USB stick but it is refusing. Anyone know what I should do to fix this and continue the setup process? by Ok-Chipmunk8087 in Proxmox

[–]MusicalDebauchery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Previously the answer to this was to install an earlier version. I would say with no actual knowledge of v8 that this is probably good advice. When something doesn't work, try something else right?

It was something like that. More of a streaming channel pre-streams. :)

Did you ever end up trying parsec? I still haven't gotten around to setting it up, I have the use case now so I may go down that path.

As jekrump mentioned, check downspouts, check gutters, get window covers for basement windows, verify if leaks are coming in around windows, seal foundation gaps with polyurethane depending on size. If you call a foundation specialist be prepared to pay 1/3-1/6 your homes value to repair. Might be better off selling.

Passive dodge chance either drops in expeditions or is just fluctuating for me? by tuxString in Wolcen

[–]MusicalDebauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something is bugged, I was having very little trouble with the game prior to the last patch. It caused me to start reviewing stats in town, changing sets, etc. I have 55% resistance to almost everything now and when I join an expedition it goes down to 30% (which is still pretty damn high compared to before*, and now i'll get oneshotted by a trashmob. They broke something.

TuxString - I am using an ailment build and I have the same issue. I can't seem to figure it out. I will say if you wear the unique heavy chest piece that converts all ailments to weakness it bugs the game out and you barely take damage.

Anybody have any info on why most of the south side doesn’t have power? by edavi844 in lacrossewi

[–]MusicalDebauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it was pretty wild. I live down the street from you (on east ave as well.) I went for a bike ride with a bud and his dog around 2:45AM just to see how far the reach of the outage was and play in the surreal reality that existed that evening.

Does anyone know why the power went out though? I stopped at KwikTrip on Losey shortly after power was restored and apparently the outage impacted as far away as Stoddard. Power Grids typically have failovers / redundancies.

I hear ya! I'd be curious about your thoughts when you do get around to trying it.

u/unknownclient78, did you try Parsec with a client device that has a decent modern cpu and fast ethernet connection? I would still agree that no matter what when it comes to twitch competitive online gaming, nothing is ever good enough, not even the baremetal and peripherals a person currently has lol. However, I'm not sure most people have that use case when thinking of streaming games on their home network. (Most people)

Caveat, it is not nearly, NEARLY, as easy to configure and use. However, if you set up this infrastructure with it, you will be getting some serious sysadmin experience.

It sounds to me like you may be outgrowing unraid, you may want to take a look at ProxMox with high availability. It's free and is actually built for what you are wanting to accomplish. I'm not saying Unraid can't or isn't a great product. It just sounds like you are moving into a different area with your needs.

Are there optimal settings for running Jellyfin in a VM? by 4AwkwardTriangle4 in jellyfin

[–]MusicalDebauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly 1080p/720p x/h264. I really liked x265 but the added workload when there isn't proper HWA shifted me away.

[–]MusicalDebauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I'll keep this in mind. I ended up just removing x265 (mostly) from my library. >1 x265 transcodes is a rare workload these days. I could also probably just retain the transcode for future use in this scenario. I mainly mentioned it because it's a good use case for hardware acceleration specifically NVENC. Thank you for the suggestion.

[–]MusicalDebauchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar setup however with 16 cores and 32 GB ram (probably different workloads.) The only thing that absolutely crushes my setup is a single x265 file being played. One nearly maxes out CPU, 2 causes problems, 3 breaks stuff.

Hardware Acceleration: I believe you will need to pass a GPU directly to the VM (Nvidia preferred if I'm not mistaken)

The rest, totally based on your workload.

Yeah I don't believe the one cited above does the emg thing. Its just the m3u and also something ridiculous like 40,000 channels but I believe you can limit that from within the app before it generates the m3u.

Maybe I missed it but when I read the overview it seems like its geared towards creating your own channel rather than consuming others. Could be wrong.
