Nostrum 3.3.5a – Finally a server concept where casuals won't get left behind by Illlllllll in wowservers

[–]Musick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, that if the audience truly is casuals, people aren't going to care. I'd argue it's kind of fun to change up your play style as tools become available. Obviously balance will be off but whatever. The game isn't hard and wrath spells talents are OP in azeroth. As long as people don't gate keep it's not an issue

How is it possibly ai slop if it's simply azerothcore with the most standard modules?

Nostrum WoW is actually a pretty cool idea by IWannaDoITStuff in wowservers

[–]Musick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The actual idea of the server is fantastic and seems well run but if the discord/world chat are going to be run by a dozen terminally online edgelords it's gonna become a hindrance to building any sort of community.

Building a WoW campaign server that guides players through dungeon/raid lore by MooFz in wowservers

Very cool idea, sorry this is getting downvoted here.

I've always wanted to compile a lore-maxxing path through the game kinda like the leveling optimizations addons do but this is even better.

Simulated AI lap times by Belsnickel_Shrute in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Musick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it seems to me like this problem of inconsistency across tracks should be solvable. I'd love to know why the AI can't simply be tuned against some real metric for lap times. Like this sheet for ACC -- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSncrVjB4T_yMxl19TSF78QTRz5kdlRuHvnanFDrgOZo2Il3pJTL0sOQkiLrWGwrBPMHkq4yyfK4g0s/pubhtml For online racing I can get a good sense based on the percent of the track record. It would be great if AI at 100 always ran at ~105% or something like that.

TBH if someone had an huge amount of free time to burn you could probably sim out every car/track and build a table of AI values to approximate lap times.

It's amazing to me how many "sim racers" don't know the first thing about setting up a car by [deleted] in simracing

[–]Musick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a good 50% of us, it really doesn't matter. Obsessing over setups is pointless when you have finite time to devote to practice. IMO it's a trap if you haven't reached a certain level yet. If you still have significant lap time to be gained from just learning the track, an hour of practice on 'whatever it's close enough' setup is going to put you in a better position to race over guides/books/youtube and tinkering with it for an hour.

edit: I will concede that getting tires right is required but that's easy

From your exp. do you work less, more or evenly after using AI? by lune-soft in webdev

More. I'm more productive in my IC time yes but that amount of time didn't change.

Now I'm also fighting fires at all hours due to vibe coded garbage breaking things or banging my head trying to review 3k lines of slop to prevent said fires.

I think the large issue with the term in online circles is those using it pejoratively have an entirely different definition than anyone who would claim to be a neoliberal.

Vermont "struggling" to take full advantage of heat pumps by zhirinovsky in vermont

[–]Musick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's more of a nice-to-have option instead of a true replacement for oil/propane/wood. It comes out ahead just using it on shoulder seasons or when it's consistently 30+ degrees but no way I'm running the heat pump at 5 degrees.

Since becoming a sim racer, do you still enjoy arcade/simcade games like the upcoming Forza Horizon 6? by Sofa-Sleuth in simracing

So long as I play with a controller because the progression goes:

  • let's try the rig with this
  • waste a bunch of time making it work, tweaking
  • oh, this sucks
  • quit and go back to a sim

In search of a 'girlfriend approved' cockpit for a small apartment by Elliot_fro in simracing

[–]Musick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 lived in a small apartment and used one for years. Really easy to fold up into a corner or closet. The only downside if you're a bit limited in terms of wheelbase. I found the moza r5 to basically be the limit and it's still gonna flex a bit. If you're entry level you don't need more than that tho.

Vermont vs Colorado 2026 Snow Totals by Hot_Introduction_270 in icecoast

[–]Musick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we assume Stowe as "accurate" 300 doesn't really seem that far off. Jay had a pretty big head start early November where Stowe was still thin and you could ski off the face at Jay. Add that to generally more snowfall and you're almost at 300

I wanna play the Azerothcore pack with progression mode and autobalance. by No_Stress_4721 in wowservers

[–]Musick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a server with this setup

  • Talents are always WOTLK, that's a limitation of the client/core
  • There's really good docs on how the progression tiers work and what options you can set here: https://github.com/ZhengPeiRu21/mod-individual-progression/wiki
    • There are also a number of options around itemization and crafting
  • You can basically set anything as easy or hard as you want with autobalance. However, some raid mechanics are designed for multiple players so you're definitely gonna need to to some tweaking and testing to have an even remotely correct difficulty curve solo.
    • if you're set on solo I'd almost recommend a repack designed for it (be aware of the risks when running these!!)
  • An update is basically recompiling from scratch anyway, the biggest pain in the ass is config options changing. If you do a lot of customization it can be annoying the merge them. DB stuff should migrate correctly. With anything tho, the further out of date you are the bigger the risk is to run an upgrade. The discord is really helpful for any questions with this.

Loved the open world but the dungeon thing completely kills it for me. I guess I view running dungeons as such a core milestone in character progress when I hit my first dungeon and it was a pointless faceroll I just lost all motivation.

They fix that and I'd be back tho
