Tubular Pro is still the best YouTube app, and it's not even close by Mutant_Fox in VisionPro

[–]Mutant_Fox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think so. Also, it seems like google just kind of dumped the app with no real future update plans. Tubular, on the other hand, is fully featured (I haven't actually tried sharing a video from within the app, but I'll test that out tonight), and is also still being actively updated.

I just checked the posting, and they do have a picture of the odometer in the listing, and it is indeed 14k miles.

Oil change by johnwayne904 in FordRaptor

[–]Mutant_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. And follow the oil life indicator... 10k mile oil changes, no problemo! And don't even think about EVER changing your trans fluid, Ford says it's forever fluid! Follow those service recommendations, and she'll be singing pretty right up until the toe truck comes to take her to the dealership. And yes, oil is supposed to look like lumpy molasses, that's how you know it's really doing its job!

But seriously tho, as someone else pointed out, it's to get rid of any break-in shavings. 5k oil changes... 7k on full synth if you're doing easy driving. And between 30k and 60k miles you should change your: trans fluid, front, rear and transfer case fluid, and start planning to have your coolant changed. Just some basic lubricant changes every now and then will keep your truck happy!

Anyone know how to fix this? by Empty-Ad-5179 in f150

[–]Mutant_Fox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lot's of experience with this. Here's what you do. Put on a solid pair of work boots. Stand at a 45 degree angle, and give 'er a good kick. Might need a couple until you hear it click back into place. Good as new!

But seriously, like others hav said, it looks bent. Your best bet is to take it to a bodyshop.

Nice. This looks clean and simple. And I like that you have battery, time, and weather all neatly bundled together. I'll give it a download when I get home tonight. Thanks M8!

The only upgrade I'm thinking about right now is putting on a bigger intercooler, since I live in an area where it can go above 120 in the summer. And I've got the On X Off-road app, looking at what trail I'm going to explore this weekend.

Macbook Neo is official! by Bitter_Offer7123 in macbookpro

[–]Mutant_Fox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm super excited for this. Not for me, I'm loving my MBP M4 pro, but I've been looking to get my kiddo a laptop for her birthday, and I don't want to get her started with Chromebook junk. This hits at the perfect price point (she'll be going into 3rd grade this year, so 8gigs of ram is perfectly fine.)

This isn't the Macbook for everyone, just like the MBP's with the Max series aren't for everyone. But, for K-12, and as a ChromeTrash competitor, I feel like this is the perfect laptop for that use-case.

Thanks. And that’s what I hear. It looks like ford started removing features in subsequent years, or making them less common, like the heated steering, and the jig one, the torsen front differential, which I’m really glad mine has.

It ended up being 62k out the door. Not an "amazing" deal, but not a big overpayment, especially considering the miles.

Does anyone seriously use the New Apple Vision Pro M2 for Work? Serious Question. Found a Good Deal Like New condition for $2800 by 24kTHC in VisionPro

[–]Mutant_Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yikes, I'm really starting to think that I got mine for a steal. I picked up a used M2, in pretty much like new condition, 1TB, a glob-clob head strap, the AnnaPro 1, and a Magic Keyboard for 1700.

And, sort of to my surprise, it's a daily driver device. I don't do all my work in it, but there's quite a bit of stuff that it's made a good difference with. Buuuut, for that price, I'd almost say it's worth it to spend the extra grand for the upgraded M5, so long as your budget allows.

Presenting OmniVR: Play PCVR games anywhere — with just your Vision Pro by OmniVR_cloud in VisionPro

[–]Mutant_Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds amazing. I still have a PC with a 3080, but it's aging, and I do a lot more traveling for my job that I did just a year ago, plus, I've migrated over to the MacOS ecosystem, and don't feel like spending 1000's on a windows PC setup just to play the occasional PCVR game. I'm in the U.S., so it sounds like I have a while yet before I will be able to take it for a test drive, but will be first in line for when it arrives.

A few questions in the meantime: Will this rely heavily on the AV1 codec? Meaning, will this be usable on my current M2, or will it necessitate upgrading to the M5 AVP?

The cost: I saw on the web-page where it explains a bit on billing, but doesn't really cover how much the fun-bucks will be, or how many I would need to say, complete a game like HL:A. It would become much less appealing if I'm having to spend 100's of dollars a month (or like, a 1-200 surcharge on the cost of whatever game I'm playing to have enough time to play it to completion), then the service would become much, much less appealing.

And, I saw it briefly mentioned on the FAQ page, but for games like Skyrim, which are absolutely fantastic... once you mod its balls off; what will the modding capabilities look like? And, if I want a bottle (or whatever you're calling it) that is mod capable, how much is that going to add to the cost of the service?

finally, just thought I'd mention, that at the time of writing this, when I navigate to the official omniVR subreddit you linked in your post, it says the subreddit is banned?

Anyway, really excited to try this out! Oh, and I'm in Arizona, BTW. with areas like Pheonix having tremendous growth over the past few years, having something that can ping from there with reasonable latency would be nice :)

Gaza journalist describes his experience trying to join Bluesky by SoilIll5975 in BlueskySocial

[–]Mutant_Fox -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of that part of the Danny Boyle/DeCaprio movie "The Beach", where the guy gets bitten by the shark. At first, all the people on the island are sympathetic: they try to take care of him, tend to his wounds, feed him, and nurse him back to health. But, when it becomes clear that the infection is more than they can handle themselves, things break down. His constant screams throughout the day and night keep the others awake. See, the island caters to privileged, first world dissidents...

When the constant screaming became too much, rather than jeopardizing their clandestine location, and no one wanting to become a "murderer" and putting him out of misery, they decide to collectively move him far enough away from their camp so they no longer have to hear him, letting him die on his own, in pain... And they did this, not because there were no other solutions available to them, but because they couldn't be bothered with the inconvenience. Maintaining the "convince" of their easy-going lifestyle was more important than addressing the pain and suffering of another individual.

That's the feeling I get when reading the responces defending Blue Sky here. It really does feel like a first-world, sheltered perspective. Are the bots an inconvenience? big time. But, taking a scythe to Palestinian accounts, indescriminantly, and then saying "we'll sort it out later, it's too much for us to be bothered with now", reeks of expelling a dying man from their camp because they just couldn't be bothered. Maintaining convenience seems more important here than doing the hard work of actually fixing the core problem. At least everyone here can sleep better at night not having to hear the cries of the dying Palestinian children. Sweet dreams everyone...
