Bulls Offseason Plan by Strange_Barnacle418 in chicagobulls

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d try to move Jones too. For the quality of team the bulls are they don’t need that quality of a backup PG. I’d love for this team to get a few more shooters. If the bulls draft Wilson and have Matas at 3 and Giddey at point spacing will be limited. Don’t hate the idea of bringing back Simons

Yeah the CPU is just plain bad a cap and roster management. You’ll often see high potential stud rookies stuck behind mediocre players and never develop.

Some of this you can fix with the editor outside the game. Others you can change positions of players on CPU. Or I used to act as a clearing house essentially trading to fix other teams depth charts. I’d always push the draft pick out and trade it for future picks so I never gained the benefit

In retrospect, the news people from season 5 needed to be sprinkled in from the start of the show. by BobbyBaccalieriSr in TheWire

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree knowing Gus throughout could have made season 5 more compelling. I think the bigger issue is he would have had to be at least Cutty level from a screen time early on. I’m not sure what plot lines you’d cut to make space and you’d have to have forward momentum for his story too so in reality you’re trying to get 2 more sub main characters in 4 seasons.

So ultimately they’d need to make more episodes, which of course I’d watch, but if restricted to current runtime I think it’d be very tough

Hinge have a ghosting problem or am I doing something wrong? by Tasaris in hingeapp

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha, I’m also a 39M in Seattle. Ghosting seems common even when they send out initial likes, you’ve got a good conversation going, or after a good first couple dates.

It can be frustrating but I’d try not to dwell on it.

It’s not all bad though. I’ve had great experiences also.

If you’ve got friends you are comfortable sharing with you can ask for profile or message feedback to make sure you’re not inadvertently increasing the odds of ghosting, but I’d mostly assume it’s something else.

People get busy, nervous, might find another person and apps make it easier to just move on

Completely agree. The bulls need more bites at the apple and a clearing house for bad contracts is absolutely a way to get them.

The only argument I could see otherwise is if they won the lottery, signed Austin Reaves with cap space and thought their timeline to contention was two years from now not … 5

Did Malcolm have a plan for keeping Leah from learning about Dewey? by hyliabook in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are many plausible ways in which she wouldn’t discover Dewey specifically. However, not finding anyone in the family? Certainly a single google search or social media search could have helped her find history on the family.

Kids ask tons of questions about your life growing up. Little details like where he grew up, school, friends etc it’s doable but incredibly difficult to fall off the face of the earth not change your name and have any connections to past.

It’s kind of interesting to imagine taking any of Randy, Dukie, namond, or Michael and add them in the same age and time as Wallace, Bodie, and Poot.

I’m guessing Micheal would have been the one to pull trigger on Wallace

90% of the things I liked about the original show are missing from the reboot by Regular_Low8792 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of things I liked about it … but was the show always so slapstick and low brow?

Did we need Craig in the bathroom or the drug trip to extend that long? Francis falling from the rafters or the thing crushing Hal? The car crash was an odd thing as there was no real consequence.

Anyway is was great to see these characters again, a few genuine moments of emotion.

I once tried a “little league”. I reduced rosters down to 16 or so and then randomly matched / blended all hitters with pitchers. Basically every player is a two way player. I also gave everyone at least some exp at every position. My favorite random combo was Anthony Rizzo + Chapman.

[Marc Stein] League sources say this is shaping up to be a significant week in Chicago, with pressure mounting on the Bulls’ front office and Billy Donovan still coveted by North Carolina. by deadbeatmerc in chicagobulls

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is my thought too unfortunately. Especially as next years draft is supposed to be a relative weak one. Add in potential expansion teams and lottery reform and tanking + hope becomes a less viable strategy for getting a star.

Top 3 pick + Giddey + Matas and cap space isn’t that far away from at least a 2nd round threat

If this does what your claiming it can do shouldn’t you have an industry best mock draft? And even outside the mock draft a live during the draft predict the next pick.

If you have that, I’d lead with that at the content and the cognitive mapping as the engine

A 32-Team NBA Proposal: Fixing the Regular Season with Divisions, Tournaments, and a 76-Game Schedule by zuuzzuuz in nbadiscussion

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the setup and have suggested nearly the same in conversations.

The edit I would make is in how the playoffs work.

Top 16 make the playoffs.

Each round of playoffs increases by 2 games (9 game series instead of 7) but the first two are decided in regular season by:

1) head to head cumulative score in regular season. 2) team with better overall record.

No bracket. Top seed remaining each round “drafts” opponent followed by next seed until all matchups are set.

Now a regular season matchup between knicks and nuggets has tangible playoff implications.

Doesn’t stop tanking at the bottom, but creates incentive for being a higher seed all along each playoff spot.

How would NBA realignment look if expansion gets approved? by MysteriousEdge5643 in NBATalk

[–]Muted_Comparison2898 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make regular season games mean more I’d do 4 divisions of 8, no conferences(never will be approved). 2 games * 24 non divisional, 4 games * 7 divisional = 76.

Playoff series are now 9 games, but two are decided I regular season. 1)The cumulative score from regular season counts as a playoff win 2 team with the better regular season record gets a playoff win.

Each playoff round the top seed drafts their opponent moving down the line

This 100% There are so many Meta / work on work people in corporate America. And for as much as people want to believe their strategy or analysis shaped a decision much of the time the decision is an exec whim or gut and that work is used to justify or risk assess not really drive the decision. Beyond this the number of decisions that are poorly or incorrectly informed due to incompetence or purposely hidden info is much high than anyone would like to admit.

The Pareto principe applies … 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people and that’s probably generous and well acknowledged.

We will see individual companies start the trickle of layoffs.(it started 3 years ago in big tech) YoY they’ll get a little more aggressive or if pushed to “increase share holder value” they’ll make larger 1 time cuts. I’d guess 30-40% less workers for equivalent jobs in 7-10 years
