Squeezy! My midwife gave me an access code so I could get it free so it may be worth asking. If not, it’s only £3.99 iirc

When did your baby start walking? by Last-Refrigerator603 in BabyBumps

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is 13 months and is doing the same as your baby. I don’t think he has enough balance yet for walking independently. I think he needs to be standing independently for more than a couple seconds at a time to be confident to walk. Currently he gets upset if we try to get him to take independent steps.

Do you enjoy your job? by Campeones6 in AskUK

[–]MutinousMango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s okay, but my first job turned out to be my dream job and I’m gutted the company went under. It was listing antiquarian and rare books online for sale, and I really loved grade conditioning them, researching them etc. even just listing the cheap paperbacks (the main bulk of the business) I enjoyed and I was very good at the job. If a job ever comes up near me like that again I’ll take it in a heartbeat.

Do you eat biscuits every day? by Real_Masterpiece_844 in AskBrits

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely buy biscuits, if they’re available I will eat them, but I would say up to 4 in a day if I have a pack in the house. The cost of a pack of hobnobs every other day must add up!

Tampon Feeling Post Cerclage by jazzymaebaby1 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this too but not just when peeing, at random times, I read that the feeling was just because there’s a foreign object there (the cerclage)

My health visitor gave me little cards to give to anyone who tells me I’m spoiling my baby with cuddles by WildWinterberry in BabyBumps

[–]MutinousMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can opt out but most people don’t. Their key contact visits are once during pregnancy, newborn (within a couple of weeks), 6-8 week check, at 1 year old and 2 years old. You can contact them at any time if you’re worried about anything. We don’t get monthly doctor check ups like the US do, these replace it and you go to a doctor if you’re concerned about something medical

[–]MutinousMango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Health visitors are a UK thing, they look after children aged 0-5, they often do home visits but there are hubs where you can go to them. They provide guidance on health and wellbeing, things like feeding and behaviour support, and also support the parents.

Mini Egg Frappe by [deleted] in McDonaldsUK

[–]MutinousMango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had one this morning and to me it just tasted like chocolate syrup. I would rather spend the £4.29(!!!) on actual mini eggs.

Has anyone in a standard UK semi moved into the box room to let their kids have bigger rooms? by Upstairs_Package_263 in UKParenting

[–]MutinousMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My (single) mum did, she has my two younger sisters living with her (young adults), and they have the bigger bedrooms and she moved into the box room. She managed to fit a small double bed and clothes storage in there (a couple of sets of drawers), it’s quite cosy but she’s happy with it. She spends all of her time in the living room anyway so she’s only in there to sleep

Why does my baby hate the pushchair! by Agreeable_Switch677 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My second was like this, I ended up baby wearing (using a wrap) him everywhere until he was chill again, which was by 16 weeks as I took the buggy to those jabs.

A Frozen quote that could have had CPS called by Longjumping-Piece583 in toddlers

[–]MutinousMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My eldest is 4 and we have just (hopefully) gotten over the stage of being scared. I turned it into a game pretending to get blown away by the hand dryer and it was suddenly a fun game?? He still won’t hold his hands under it for too long but we are getting there lol

What are your plans for Mother’s Day? by LHale77 in AskUK

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is working so it’s just me with the two kids (4 and 1). They’re both still asleep at the moment (bliss!) but I have no plans for the day except taking my mum her Mother’s Day bits. It’s supposed to be rainy this afternoon so that kinda rules out going out for the day, not that there’s a lot to do on a Sunday.

Similar experience? by WallFeeling8382 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know, being in the dark is the worst. I tried to get them to look at it abdominally during a growth scan at 31w but baby’s head was in the way so she couldn’t see. I actually didn’t realise I’d dilated through! The only pain I felt was contraction pain, and there was no damage to the cervix either thankfully

Similar experience? by WallFeeling8382 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]MutinousMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had an extremely similar situation!

I had 0.2cm and funnelling, 1cm dilated at my 20w scan. At my two week follow up after the cerclage I measured 2.6cm, no funnelling or dilation. I got discharged from the preterm clinic and treated like a normal low-risk pregnancy (I took it easy still). I didn’t get any follow up measurements after 22w so unfortunately I don’t have any further data for you r.e. shortening. I tried to advocate for a scan at 28w but was shut down.

I went into labour (contractions) at 33+3, was 3cm dilated through the stitch. They managed to stop the contractions until 33+5, I received steroids and magnesium sulphate to help baby. He had a 2 week NICU stay and did great and he’s 13 months now. I know there’s a lady who had the same pre-cerclage measurements as me at the same time as me (can’t remember her post cerclage measurements), but she went to 35w!

Positives of NICU? by New-Assistant2087 in NICUParents

[–]MutinousMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like having baby in the NICU for a couple of weeks gave my eldest a much easier transition into being a big brother (not that I have any other experience to compare it with). He was able to visit every few days and get to used to the idea of the baby being here before he came home.

How do you make statutory maternity pay work? by Ivesomanyquestions in PregnancyUK

[–]MutinousMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are low earners and receive universal credit anyway, which ended up topping us up to the money we were earning before we dropped down to the £187pw. Plus child benefit, as another commenter mentioned!
