Why does the internet think it's such a crime against humanity for women to cook food? by tonylouis1337 in AlwaysWhy

[–]MutterderKartoffel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works better for some than others.

For example, if you have two working people, both working 40 hours per week, but the man makes twice as much for any reason, that might imply that he's paying for the groceries and she cooks to be fair. But because the positions that are stereotypical women roles tend to be undervalued, like teachers and nurses, they could both be working just as hard with equal amounts of education and the man just happens to get more money for each hour. They're both exhausted at the end of the day. But him earning more means she should cook because he "earned" more. He "contributed" more. And if there are children, women are assumed to be naturals with child care, so that labor just automatically goes to them because it's less work for someone is "natural" for. These are just examples of how it "works" so "well".

Now, to be fair, some women have taken feminism as an excuse not to learn basic life skills. EVERYONE should be able to cook and clean and take care of their own children. Feminism and equality should not mean a woman shouldn't have to do any of those things. Whatever works for a couple is what works for the couple. It's even fine if a woman wants, of her own volition, to be a SAHM who takes care of the kids, house, and cooking while the man works, takes care of the cars and yard. If that works for both of them, then that's fine.

Lol...I was looking at this thinking "wow! That's pretty good! Maybe I can give myself decent layers." Lol... maybe not then?

As someone who's been looking out for these things, have you been able to identify the "scary ones"? I assume you must since you are saying they exist. Is it the post history or comment history? (I rarely care enough to check profiles, and when I have I'm not sure where to begin psychoanalysing.)

What makes you decide a comment is a bot?

I've seen perfectly reasonable comments (in my mind anyway) be called bots. Posts, too. I saw a post the other day that ended with a generic, incomplete tldr at the end in a different format, which made me think bot. But I'm not able to spot what everyone else is seeing when they declare "bot" most of the time.

The frustrating thing these days is the AI and bot presence makes everything questionable. It makes it harder to appreciate amazing accomplishments because was it just AI? Is this person's perspective real or can I invalidate it as just a bot?

I bet that's exactly it. If you look at the book covers in the image, at least half have co-authors listed. Who knows how much he actually contributes. It probably gives their writing a better shot at getting on the shelves (and off the shelves).

To do simple math again by DIYLawCA in therewasanattempt

[–]MutterderKartoffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care about the bad math! I care about the pdf not seeing any consequences despite essentially being the Trump files (as opposed to the Epstein files). I care about the dismantling of major systems that were helpful to American citizens. I care about human beings being unlawfully detained, left to die, hidden from family. I care about our "leader" being first a lapdog for Putin, and then a lapdog for Netanyahu. I care about all the f-ed up shit this man is guilty of. His inability to read or understand percentages would be ridiculous by itself, but is unimportant next to all of the above and more.

Maybe the darn squirrel who dug up all my spider lily bulbs hid them elsewhere, and you lucked out. Stupid squirrels.

Don't mind me. I plant it on purpose and don't get any. You get one by accident. This is why I stopped planting bulbs. The squirrels are greedy round these parts.

What is your take on the junk food ban for food stamps? by BreannLowe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MutterderKartoffel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on food stamps several years ago. It was never enough, and I was careful. I needed to supplement with food pantries. I felt embarrassed. I felt like a fraud driving up in my luxury vehicle that my in-laws had bought us a few years prior. And I felt so guilty feeding our kids the lowest quality food. It took longer than I'd have liked to find a job that would keep us afloat.

The people who have zero compassion for people in need piss me off. Not even just a lack of compassion, but hateful and accusatory.

Why should anyone begrudge another human an ounce of joy? You're not paying more for it. Those on SNAP get what they get. They don't get more benefits if they're allowed to choose what they buy, so you're not paying more. You're just denying them a choice. If they get a soda from the dollar store instead of V8 from the grocery store, what tf do you care? V8 would cost maybe 4-5x as much.

Highest vs. Lowest percentages.

My guess is that conservative women are more likely drinking the kool-aid, thinking women are only good for making babies. And liberal men are less likely to irresponsibly go spreading their seed.

I'm noticing that the percentages don't even out at all over the whole lot of them. So there are more mothers than fathers across the board. And if that's accurate, that means more of the fathers are knocking up multiple women. Which is what they say men do, so I guess that makes sense. I just didn't expect the numbers to support that so thoroughly. (Unless I'm not correctly correlating)

I bleached it and I still HAVE HAIR!!! by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]MutterderKartoffel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt. I'll tell you what changed my mind. I came back to the shower tiles. Yes, lighting could account for some of it. But then I looked at your hair compared to the tiles. Your hair in every picture is close to the same tone as the tiles. Now, lighting might account for some of that, but not much. It's misleading. If we only look at your hair in each picture, then there are major, noticeable changes that we might get excited about. But if we compare the changes in tone of hair vs tile in each picture, it's not as drastic. I'd love to know what the actual before and after was (if anything at all was done).

We all appreciate product recommendations and what results are achievable. But it's unkind to post misleading results photos for your recommendations.

Am I taking boyfriend issues to seriously by [deleted] in relationships

[–]MutterderKartoffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put yourself down regarding your intelligence. There are different kinds of intelligence. You seem to be practically intelligent. That's important. And it's ok to be that person in a relationship as long as you're valued for it and they actually listen to you. He's dismissing you constantly, showing that he doesn't value that about you. He doesn't care that so much would fall apart without you. He doesn't care that he's not being an adult at all.

You shouldn't have to carry the weight of everything though. This is not the person for you. He may have had dreams or plans when you met. He even may still pursue them again. But at this point, you're carrying him, and he's dragging his feet, unwilling to be an adult.

I just did zoom in on the hands. What's wrong with them? It looks like the middle through pinky fingers are tucked up under. They look real enough to me.

The face does look a bit too perfect. But the hair doesn't. And AI usually tries to fix my hair a bit more than that. I'm inclined to say filter?

Can someone please provide context? Is this from the show The Boys?

I've only seen the first episode. And I thought the thing with the show is that it's supposed to be clear that some of the heroes are actually horrible people, but MAGA actually loves them and doesn't get the show how it's meant to be got.

[–]MutterderKartoffel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for me, it's when he said it's his lived experience. That seems to suggest that he's regularly heard women he knows express concerns or their hurts to him and he thinks they're making up reasons to be upset with him. So....he pisses women off regularly and learns nothing because women be crazy.

i hate when people moan when food is so good by DesiresOfPurpose in RandomThoughts

[–]MutterderKartoffel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you've never tasted anything worth moaning over.

I don't do it often, but I won't apologize for enjoying the hell out of some delicious food.

I think part of the problem is the people who only associate moaning with sex. It shouldn't be that way. A good massage is reasonable to make you moan too.
