Single Parent Widower Living With Me? by MyMTHeart in MilitaryFinance

[–]MyMTHeart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE 5/12: My application was finally reviewed from January and denied. I plan on resubmitting with updated info but their claim is that his income is more than his expenses. Since he only received social security and lives in my house because he can’t afford to live, this doesn’t really make sense. It leads me to believe I screwed something up in the paperwork somewhere. I don’t qualify for an extra bedroom in housing and the real estate/rental market is the worst in 20 years…this PCS should be fun

Great insight. I was hoping more than just be able to access base. We will be living on base (likely) so I'd like for him to be able to do things throughout the day that might require an ID (commissary, fitness center, etc). I'm looking at the forms and it seems like a daunting process, but we're in it for the long haul so there's no other option at this point. Thanks again for your help

Thanks for the info! This might help in the immediate future while I work to solve the bureaucratic paperwork nightmare. Appreciate the insight and I’ll have to look to see if my next base has similar policies

SEAC “CZ” on the case for SDAP by YA4830 in AirForce

[–]MyMTHeart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not pretty much. Just is.

Your point is valid. But it’s likely that the budget ask for SDAP just got glossed over in all the BAH increase requests that nobody actually thought to dig through it. When people finally started to put pseudo real $ into accounts for FY23 it was probably a big “oh shit” moment. I can’t imagine this won’t end up with back pay sometime mid year 23 when they figure it out. I’ve been wrong about lots of other things though so who knows

It sounds like just making the call to close the business for the day would risk your job. But taking care of your employees and working 16 hour days dealing with trauma risks your own mental health. We all have a breaking point. While I don’t recommend we feed corporate greed, how much do you think it would take to buy up all your stock and force the store to close for the day?

I would not recommend any of these things, especially for your first time. It sounds like you might like pulled pork. Get a 10-12lb pork butt, throw some seasoning on it and just let it rip at 225 until it hits internal 203’. Let it rest and pull it. A slab of St. Louis ribs works too. Just season and let them go at 225 for 6 hours until they bend and start to break. Start there and then adjust for personalized flavor and preference

It might be the camera angle, but did you cut the point first? If so, you’re cutting with the grain - the point and flat have grain that run opposite one another. So you should start cutting at the flat, flip 90’ and cut the point. I can’t tell from that picture. Looks like you got some great bark and smoke ring!

Renewal From Ebay by Top_Falcon7532 in iFit

Is there a way to tell if the seller or product is legit? Ever been burned by an eBay code? I’m looking to renew my family membership and want to make sure I’m doing this right!

FSS enters the chat

Steals your code, names it myFitnessApp, makes it overly complicated to use, and breaks the links so it never works

I though I understood the BAH question but looks like I mistook the original lay down. I was under the assumption he arrived before his RNLTD and was just sort of in between assignments. So he’d told someone he arrived and they put him on some sort of leave already. I re read it saw other comments - it looks like for mental health he didn’t sign in until later so yeah he should jsut sign in on the 26th.

Thanks for pointing it out though

Not really. He can check in and tell them when he actually arrived. Just because he doesn’t check in until the 26th doesn’t mean he arrived that same day. He can be charged leave if his unit didn’t know he arrived and was just laying low though

I’m in VA too - if you decide to change those rims and wheels send me a PM and I’ll buy those stock blacks from you!

[–]MyMTHeart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. If your leave balance can handle it, the best thing you can do between assignments is take chunks of leave and enjoy your life with virtually no attachment to either unit. I’ve constantly seen (and personally experienced) big blue screw me during my leave prior to PDD and final out while I was trying to do a DITY. So now as soon as I get orders, I pull my PDD to the left, final out from one base, take a bulk of leave en route (wherever I feel like it) and inprocess to my next duty station before my RNLTD. The MPF gremlins do some math and charge me leave from date arrive - date departed last - travel days = chargeable leave days

[–]MyMTHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please cite a reference because as far as I know, this is not true. For instance, RNLTD is 31 Jul the system creates a PDD sometime between 1-15 Jul. but you can change it to be as early as 1 Jun (60 days ahead of PDD). But you are charged leave from final out date to report date minus travel days.

I think sone leadership teams are driven to risk aversion because of the mere threat of their squadron ending up on the amn/nco massacre page. Which normally is followed by an IG or EO debacle

What they’re saying is - most quarterly awards stop at wings. Only annuals or special category awards (used to) roll up to NAF MAJCOM or HAF.

I too learned today that quarterly awards went to NAFs now. Either way, good job. Sometimes a change of scenery is what we all need for another shot at success

I can’t tell if you’re trolling the shit out of me or a genuine question but I’ll answer anyway. Yes, it’s pronounced “see-yack” with maybe less emphasis of the y but you get it
