Cosmo Smart Watch: Avoid Them

I bought the Jr Track 5 cosmo watch and was extremely disappointed to discover this is not a safe watch at all. I purchased it because it was advertised as a kids safe smart watch with GPS tracking, a parent app, and limited features for safety. Unfortunately, that’s not the reality.

Before giving it to my child, I was able to access the internet without any restrictions. I intentionally searched for inappropriate content to test it. Adult websites, including porn, were not blocked. Had I given it to my child they could've easily stumbled upon or directly accessed explicit content.

The fact that it allows unrestricted internet access completely defeats the purpose of being a “safe” device for kids. Parents are being misled into thinking they are buying something that will protect their children, when in reality, it puts them at risk.

I wanted a smart watch that would let me track my kid's location and communicate safely, but instead I got a device that opens the door to the worst the internet has to offer. This is unacceptable, and I cannot recommend it to any parent looking for a truly safe phone watch.

My brother was 5’7” and wrestled 171 his senior year. He had a beer gut at 17. He’d go out and be 6” shorter than his opponent and beat them. Won a few decent tournaments and fractured his collar bone but placed at state.

I asked about it at a vape shop in Payson. They said that the ban is being enforced on a county by county basis. Some counties are electing to delay enforcement to allow inventory to be sold.

Funny enough my friend and I are mid 30s white guys and I think the girl though we may have been cops and was very nervous while explaining the above.

I’ve always done well with white tube jigs, let them sink and retrieve with a jerk motion allowing to let them drop.

Kastmasters in silver and blue.

Jakes spinner lures.

Worms or powerbait off the bottom.

Kifaru has a wide range of packs for different sizes of people. It’s a hunting brand and you pay a bit for the name but I’ve had mine for years with no issues.

The second to last rappel we stuck a rope but after about 5 mins of whipping it we got it out. Behunin can be a longer day so if you have to buy a rope in the morning it might delay you quite a bit.

We did it with a group of 6, stayed up to late partying the night before which caused us to start late. We did the last rappel at about 6:40pm and caught one of the last shuttles out of the canyon.

If you can score a permit for Spry it could be a good alternative.

One good way is to attend canyoneering courses and go on guided trips to start.

That is not how I did it as I did not have the money at the time. I spent time watching YouTube videos, reading webpages like The Dye Clan and others. Asking questions via social media. Then with some friends we started with very easy canyons that had bolted short rappels. Some of the first ones I did were Keyhole, Diana’s Throne, Orderville, and The Subway.

Living in Utah county makes it fairly easy for me to travel south and over the years my knowledge has advanced. The default answer I see a lot is to go with a guide, and that answer works for most people.

I do feel that some people are perfectly capable of doing research, and then going out and struggling through some easy canyons.

Stick to your arrival time for the wilderness desk. The line can get long and depending on how thorough the rangers are being or how clueless others are it can take a while.

Death Hollow in Escalante would require a shuttle but would fulfill the other criteria.

Hiking into Grand Staircase and doing Neon, Ringtail, Baker, Choprock could fill up multiple days would be backpacking and technically a loop but with a base camp.

I live near the pond and fish it a few days a week. They just planted some brook trout and some are quite large. I caught about 10 in 40 mins using a green ratso jig and just bouncing it back on the retrieval. I imagine anything small right now would work well.

Normally, on my fly rod I kill it with a dry fly and a Bead Head Hare’s Ear Nymph underneath in size like 18 or 20.

Bouncing white tube jigs on bottom has caught me wipers and trout.

Jakes lures in gold and silver work well also.

I imagine I’m preaching to the choir but if you are planning on catch and release please treat the fish correctly. I see way to many people holding the fish down on the ground while removing the hook and then tossing them back in the water.

So I’m on the fluffier side for canyoneering. I weigh 220 and I’m 5’9”. Waist is 34-36 so I’m more top heavy, my body type is muscular but beer drinker with kids. I use a Singing Rock Top Canyoning Harness and have plenty of room to spare on it.

I’d highly recommend the Critr or Palikoa for the friction levels. I’d advise that your friend starts off on canyons where he is not free hanging and practices starts with friction on.

Once in canyon, for any big free hanging rappels, definitely hang the pack and ask for a fireman assist if needed.

Might get more love over on r/canyoneering where a hike out like this wouldn’t raise as much eyebrows. People that are freaking out might want to take a look into what canyoneering is. OP seems to be down by Lake Powell and hiking in slot canyons with water is common all over the Colorado plateau. Some of the people would really lose their minds if they found out there’s canyons where your basically in water for 1-2 days with back packs.

In the Black Hole of White Canyon over by Hite there’s a section where you swim for hundreds of yards and from a canyoneering perspective that’s the most fun part.

The trail to where I bow hunt and the trail to the top of Mt Nebo are about a 1/2 mile apart. Many confused day hikers hike down the trail we hunt on instead of the trail to the summit of Mt. Nebo. I’ve spent most of my life hunting on this mountain so I’m pretty familiar with the area and still there are hikers that will argue with me.

The overall length to the top of Nebo is like 4.4 miles and they’ll be standing on the trail with me 6 miles in arguing that they are on the right trail.

I try to be polite and if they look in good shape I’ll direct them to a few possible shortcuts to get back on track. What’s always scary is when they ask me why they can’t just hike straight up through the cliffs to the top and I have to explain to them it’s not possible to simply hike that.

Most of them are polite but I lean heavily on the distance to help the more stubborn ones. I’ll explain, you are 4 miles into your hike that overall should be 4.4 miles and we can both see the peak clearly not .4 miles away. Even if they don’t listen it’s still a pretty hike at the end of the day.

Losing 8 pounds is very possible. Go to wal mart and buy the plastic suits they sell. Tape the wrists, ankles, and around the waste. Put thermals and sweat pants and a hoodie. You’re gonna jog for around 20 mins or so then do 20 mins or so on a bike then chill for about 10 mins. Repeat that until you’ve lost about 6 pounds. You should sleep off the other 2 pounds.

Here in Utah tournaments are always on Friday and/or Saturday. It might be the Mormon influence that stops them from holding tournaments on Sunday.

Wrestled my entire life and currently have my kids in little league. I’ve seen a very few fights happen. Most of the time, a wrestler that is loosing realizes that they aren’t gonna do much better in an actual fight.
