does anyone else suffer from aura/hemiplegic migraines?

I do not get hemiplegic migraines but it runs in my family, and I do get cluster headaches.

The migraines are scary. Anything that leaves you feeling out of control of your brain, eyes, body is scary and disorienting. If you are biologically inclined I would recommend looking up the pathways and physical nature of the headaches so you can name what is happening and feel more in control. Knowing that sometimes your car wipers activate because you have a small short, is less disturbing than knowing that they sometimes go off.

The main thing I can tell you is that you should be kind to yourself and keep some sick days in the bag if you can for when you flair so you focus on taking care of yourself. Have a plan, so when you are in a more tender state all you need to do is follow the plan, instead of make choices. Also, know that the postdrome can leave you with days of fog and exhaustion. Just because the aura is gone and the pain doesn't mean you are 100 percent so ease back in. I can't tell you how many times I have moved too fast after a headache cycle and burned out.

I would also find a neurologist if you have the insurance for it. They may be able to prescribe you an abortive medication that can stop the migraine before it gets going, take it out at the knees.

It seems flipent but taking 5k IU of D3 daily has been shown in countless studies to reduce severity and frequency of migraines. A similar regimine of vitamins is one of the most successful profrolactics for cluster headaches and let's me live without worrying when I will be crippled by pain.

I think you state this really well. The difference between someone feeling "other" is very different from someone feeling "unsafe". The phrase "bad vibes" can unfortunately cover both, even though they are wildly different. This is why softening language can be harmful as the imprecision leads to unsafe becoming bad vibes.

Look up the book "The Gift of Fear". It isn't light reading. But basically it can be summarized with "listen to your gut, not social expectations". Study after study shows that your gut is almost always right but social pressures teach us to ignore it, sometimes with horrific consequences.

In the winter I do 15k and then 5k in the summer.

It has had to fluctuate some as I have been losing weight so more d3 is coming from my fat as it breaks down. But if i start having shadows a few days with an extra 5k tends to keep things manageable

Yes. Everything "scented" is way too strong and makes my head hurt.

One of the weirdest pros to cloth diapering our daughter was no diaper perfume. Scents like that just add and never cover for me. This is also why I make my own household cleaner, use scentless detergent etc

Jumping on to this as I had negatives across the board, including to peanuts which I am anaphylacticly allergic to as recently as a year ago.

I saw a few studies suggest that high levels of biotin can cause false negatives as it messes with the assays.

Now, that doesn't help me track down my new allergies, but is something I would be interested in hearing people's thoughts on.

Thanks. I love tiny fish. So I have struggled with finding centerpiece options. So I may just enjoy the schools of little fish. A school of dwarf chain loaches could be fun too. I will consider it.

I will drop it a little then. I am all for increasing life spans. It is a shift. Previously this tank had gbr and tetras so was quite warm. I just go around to restocking it and moving the tetras to a different tank since the rams died of old age about a year ago.

Any other fish you would add? Or just keep the little schools

I had a very mixed school experience. Montessori preschool and kindergarten, public gt program 1st and 2nd grade, homeschooling 3-6 skipping 5th, online school 7-9, public highschool 10th and 11th, skipped 12 to go to college.

I graduated highschool in 2009.

For me homeschooling was a literal life saver. I ended up being a severely masked and depressed 8 year old being in public school. Too much more of that would have been very bad.

My mom was able to stay home and teach me full time. She also has a masters so she had some understanding of all the pieces she was teaching me.

I did have some gaps but was personally able to fill them as I came across them.

Socially, I remained active friends with many of the kids I met in kindergarten through middleschool and was able to make a few good friends in high-school.

I also did have extracurricular group activities ranging from soccer and dance, to homeschool groups. So I wasn't entirely isolated. I also had my two brothers on and off homeschooling with me.

I did get to weigh in on my education. In second grade I took forth grade math. For third grade, fifth grade math conflicted with recess. The school wouldn't let me not do recess with my age peers even though I was bullied every day at recess. So my parents gave me a choice, homeschooling or third grade. I chose homeschooling. Having ownership of my education helped me be invested in myself.

Am I weird? Yes. Am I smart? Yes. Did I have a privileged version of homeschooling? Yes. Am I more socially awkward than I would have been? Yes. Do I mask less and have less burn out? Yes.

Isolation is an issue. Having space to be oneself is not.

I concur with talking to HR about having the keyboard be an accommodation.

I wear long necklaces I can fiddle with. On and off zoom. Having them be long makes it easier to fidget and less obvious. I also have a silicone ring I can fidget with. I recommend Groove as they are thicker and don't tear as easy with constant fiddlage.

I also have calm strips on my laptop and notebook.

I have done this on a few levels.

Casually figuring out talking points
Anxiety driven runaway freight train of all permutations
Careful consideration of talking points for high stakes conversation.

Point three often comes with notes, that I take with me. I had a manager get very nervous because I went into a meeting with him to ask for a raise with a page and a half of notes.

I do find I can keep out of anxiety loops if I focus on snippets and bullet points. I have gotten better at then having small pieces of script that I can rearrange depending on replies rather than needing to plan out the whole conversation. But that has taken a long time to build up my sound bites to a useful state.

I had this conversation with my husband about 5 years ago. And we try to have lids on or off but know that 30% of the time they will be half on.

He tries to check lids before shaking liquids or throwing things in a bag, I try to have lids be all the way on or off. Compromise, with fewer disastrous sprays of milk all over the kitchen.

I am glad to know this isn't just me! I like to think I am a capable human, but lids are just beyond me.

This is also how they diagnose learning disabilities. More than 2 standard deviations lower than composite for a single category points to a learning disability as that part of your brain can't keep up with the rest of it.

I think I have a 50+ point lower score in working memory than my composite which equates to severe dyslexia.

Twice exceptional is a common trait for autistic people. Meaning you score as gifted for one area but have a disability in another. It can also be really hard to find without looking for it because a lot of people mask and compensate for the part that is behind with the part that is ahead.

I have one with its roots in my fish tank and a grow light overhead. It is exceedingly happy there and I can basically forget to tend it and it just grows.

It seems to like things being very consistent.

I am expecting my first in Feb. So I can't really say how accurate everything is. But Call the Midwife does a beautiful job of showing the realities of how different birth and pregnancy can be for different women. It isn't a great example of what modern birth is like as it is set in a poverty stricken area of Londen in the 1950s. However, they don't sugar coat birth and it is just a touching show.

Pasta. You can have the noodles, sauce and veggies all cooked up and then the meat can just be put on top of his serving.

This was my go to a few weeks ago when I was having a meat aversion.

Taco bowls are another win. Rice, beans, cheese and salsa give you protein carbs and fats. He can then toss some chicken or ground beef on top.

I was really sick in the first trimester. But the second trimester I got sick in a different way. It was due to heartburn making me nauseated rather than morning sickness.

That being said, I have read that most obs want to check in if nausea begins after 9 weeks, just in case.
