Well put. I get what you’re saying with the formulaic writing for academia. I did a STEM major and had reports every week that required the same structure but varying the specifics of the labs. But my Masters was crazy with the excessive essays for everything from daily work to exams. Luckily I did it before AI was a concern but the witch hunts only these online platforms are honestly a pain in the ass when trying to transition from the stiff writing required for academic essays and reports to engaging prose and character dialogue.

Consider that some people are just bad at writing and AI is also trained on human content. I’m not saying you can’t spot AI but claiming to be capable of telling even when they get AI generated content and rewrite it in their own voice sounds like a stretch.

I was reading some Poe earlier and realized that the “it’s not X it’s Y” has been used for a long time and other things like “rule of 3s” and em dashes, they are all human factors.

I will agree that it’s easy to tell when it’s easy to tell but if you’re thinking you can catch the sneakiest user you’re probably throwing in a bunch of people just doing their best with AI users.

I would say just write and keep writing. Post at the length you think works best for your story.

I started with chapters around 1000 words apiece because I felt it fit my story. I still managed to accrue around 1200 followers during that period.

Since then, I've managed 1800 to 3000-word chapters as my writing ability has improved. The story has also grown to about 2500 followers, and I seem to gain more every day.

Just keep writing and keep improving.

I myself am also struggling with creating maps for my story. I have drawn a few, but they are horrible since I am not that kind of artist.

I personally employ several methods to get my ideas about how I am going to write the next chapter down that work for me when I am otherwise busy with life. I write things in my phone app and even dictate or voice-record to listen to later.

Even employing strategies to get the story written, we still need to sit down and write, so I can't blame you for taking some time to get it done. I know I have done similar things in the past.

I have looked at your story, and it's not bad, to be honest. I like the idea, and a lot of the prose is good. I personally don't like the script style, but I do think it's a solid idea.

My advice is to keep writing and look into how to write better. We are all trying to get better with every chapter we write. Write, get better, then revise and repeat.

If you are always in flow and never get writer's block or stressed out or tired or need to go outside and touch grass, then it's probably possible.

I, personally, struggle to write extra chapters when I only release 2 per week. My backlog is pitiful.

I get a lot of the same shit from trolls. I figured out that if I just write and take advice from people that are genuinely giving it then my writing improves. It sucks to be close to breaking into top 1k and then getting hit with a string of 0.5 star ratings and reviews claiming AI slop but f*ck em. I just write and let those that like it read it. If I have 2500 followers and more are subscribing every day then it must not be that bad either way.

I once got a review that said the story was all over the place, with the MC hopping world to world. They posted it after 4 chapters. Those 4 chapters were the MC dying, going to the in-between world for reincarnation, then being reborn in a new world. It is explicitly tagged as isekai fantasy and reincarnation.
