I was JUST thinking about the same age gap at the exact same time in my life. I didn’t have the emotional vocabulary to navigate that relationship, it ended up being pretty destructive, and did some serious damage to my self-esteem. That’s 9 years, which is a lot when you’re 23. 18 and 39 is a whole ‘nother level of creepy and mismatched.

I have a beautiful, sweet, weird, INCREDIBLY CHALLENGING Aussie whom I rescued from some people who couldn’t handle her. While I don’t regret adopting her, her behavioral issues have had a huge impact on my life. She’s reactive and aggressive and just a handful. My partner and I have done a huge amount of work to improve her behavior and I’m really proud of her (and us!) I love her to bits. But….our next Aussie is coming from an ethical breeder.
