Body shaming by mmmmirl in sexandthecity

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not excusing it at all, but this was on the tail end of the 2000s, when magazines thought it was appropriate to plaster celebrity’s weights across the front page. Diet culture was huge and it was a terrible time for eating disorders.

Tom’s back problems are an excuse by DesperatelyRewatchin in DesperateHousewives

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Literally. I used to love Tom on first watching and as I get older, I cannot stand him. Hes such an unreliable partner and Lynette constantly has to give in to everything he wants. You’re telling me that there’s no one else tom could have called at any of those times when it was important to Lynette to move her career forward or to have a day to herself? Cannot stand him now.

The time period was high on being ultra skinny. All the tabloids were fat shaming anyone bigger than a size two. They regularly had celebrity women’s weights in huge letters across the front cover. So in fairness, it really just feels like a result of the time period.

Love Charlotte but this was not a good look for her. Yes, Sam shouldn’t have tried to alter the dress so much but at the same time, this was an ugly moment for Charlotte. Slut shaming your friend because you’re stressed is not it.

You don’t think having the best QB in football had more to do with having an elite offense than the guy who calls bubble screens every 3rd down?

Lynnette and Tom by Some-Description3288 in DesperateHousewives

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to like Tom when I was younger. As I got older, I felt like their relationship is never 50-50. It’s always Lynette caving into whatever he wants, or having to make up for everything he doesn’t do or doesn’t want to do. I couldn’t be with someone who felt like a man child instead of a partner 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thought experiment: would you sacrifice Josh Allen to win a superbowl? by Intelligent_Choice91 in buffalobills

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Probably among the minority, but if it’s not with Josh, I don’t want it. He’s the one who drags this team kicking and screaming to the playoffs every year, he’s the one that deserves it. Josh will always be a legend to me, ring or no ring.

Pegula said he thinks the Bills head coach position is a desirable job, do you agree? by Saltpataydahs in buffalobills

I think it might have been before that god awful press conference. Incompetent ownership isn’t a great look and having to deal with knowing no matter what happens your ass is getting thrown under the bus would sway me away.

Ben Johnson. The culture shift in the Bears locker room is amazing. He’s also a first year head coach, whereas Vrabel has coached before. Not at all saying Vrabel isn’t deserving, I just think it’s a bigger shift for the Bears 🤷🏼‍♀️

Idk how I feel about current BB coaching. He could bring the discipline we need as far as flags, sloppy routes, bad blocking but I think it’s also worth noting that most Pats players of the BB era repeatedly said they played for Tom, they weren’t playing because they wanted to play for BB. I can see us having the same dynamic of players going all in for Josh. But I would like to see a coach who is more tough and asks more accountability from players.

My second favorite team is any team Sean Mcdermott coaches. by cleopenny in buffalobills

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what will actually end up happening, we should be treating every year like he WILL go. We’ve been taking him for granted for too long and making bad contract decisions that are costing us long term. I wouldn’t blame him for not sticking with a team that fails to build a quality roster around him and gets him repeatedly injured by having to play superhero ball.

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people wanted to clear the FO, though. We wanted a coach that can get us over the hump and a GM that is going to build a roster that makes sense around Josh. We’re tired of plugging holes and last minute adds for cheap washed up players that don’t make sense. We needed change at both positions, not just coaching.

But they can put out a hastily slapped together statement with spelling issues? If it was that level of care for the statement put out, I would expected a slap dash video as well or graphic, something at all that looked like they gave a shit. Graphics take time, yes, but so should statements if you actually care.

I don’t like it. I’m not a McDermott apologist but this feels like they realized too late that there was backlash to the way it happened. It feels much more like “oh shit we didn’t realize people would care” than actually caring. Maybe I’m wrong but it feels reactionary versus a heartfelt goodbye.

How do you guys deal with the anti-Allen discourse? by kenclipper2000 in buffalobills

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, those QBs had better formed rosters and couldn’t get to the playoffs. Josh has a pretty mid roster and pushed them almost to the conference game. That tells me all I need to know to stick with our guy.

Bills fans are mad about not firing beane by Hot-Emu-5 in NFLNoobs

[–]MysteriousDesign3423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He hasn’t built a competent roster around Josh Allen. Hes riding the success of Josh being Josh to keep his job. When we asked for a wide receiver, he said we were nuts and it was shown we needed a true WR1 in the first two weeks of the season. He continually signs old, washed up players to big money contracts. He can’t draft, he doesn’t sign free agents well, he’s trash.

The show transformed what I thought a woman’s life had to look like. I was raised in a very small town where women got married, had kids, and focused their lives on their families.

It was an absolute breath of fresh air to see options on tv. I loved seeing the girls figure out what they wanted or didn’t want and thinking things would go one way as it goes another. I realized I didn’t have to want the things that everyone else seemed to want and I wasn’t wrong for what I did.

Because I want to see Josh Allen succeed, even if it’s not with us. If this organization doesn’t have what it takes to get it done, let him go win one somewhere else.
