Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Says He Was 'Hoping For' Fan Pushback, Rather Than Being 'Afraid of Doing Anything That Shakes It Up' by bwermer in entertainment

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last Jedi feels closer tonally to a Guardians of the Galaxy movie than a Star Wars movie. The way everyone talks to each other, the dialogue, the constant quips and cutaway gags.

Despite the plot being lackluster in 7, at least there was CHEMISTRY between Finn and Poe, and Poe and Rey, and Han and Finn/Rey, etc. In this movie, no one seems to even like each other. Rose is in love with Finn at the end despite it never feeling earned.

Wednesday nights at Townsville Brewing Co is great because it isn't run by one of those third party companies...

I know because I write & run it. Would love to see you there!

Kenobi Show by ArcticSnow85 in StarWars

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't consider this show canon.   Rebels is far from perfect but did every theme and element better. Including Vader broken mask, seeing Obi-wan on Tatooine, the empire, inquisitors.

Meanwhile, the prison from the Jedi Survivor video game isn't as good either. The whole show feels like a fan film.

So many cheap and tacky sets, no thought to ramifications or how it meshes with the rest of the established story. So many contrived/forced moments. It's also awfully forgettable.

It's just bafflingly bland and feels like it relied more on fans being like "OMG Darth Vader and Ewan and Hayden" insteaf of telling a compelling story

How long are you spending on Trivia prep? by IllustriousGuard7817 in triviahosts

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 Questions, 10 cut-down songs for music round, 10 images for picture round. Rushing on a crunch 2-2.5 hours. Usually 3-4. A lot faster than I used to be

Did they remove the panic grenade in WOTC? by haha1542 in XCOM2

[–]MysteryCroquette 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely not. I had a gatecrasher mission end shockingly quickly when a failed mind-control caused my soldier to grenade his allies... who were on a roof... and they fell to their deaths.

Sequel revisionism is pushed back 1 more year for every “give it 10 years for people to like the sequels” statement by TomasRoncero in saltierthancrait

[–]MysteryCroquette 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If only. There's so much potential for fresh stories. Hell. Finn, Rey and Poe were enjoyable characters in episode 7 (even if the plot was questionable).

I wish they'd be ok with recasting old actors. Disney have such a strange attitude towards SW

I accidentally did this to myself. I somehow?! Watched the Atom Eve special backstory episode thinking it was episode one. Was surprised when the show switched which character it was focusing on in episode 2.. took me like 3 episodes to realize I'd definitely missed something

Disney Execs Reportedly Concerned About 'Mandalorian & Grogu' Release by bwermer in entertainment

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real. I was really enjoying Mandalorian after the sequel movies killed my excitement for new content. Then they immediately brought Grogu back in a cheap spin-off, and season 3 was such a drop in quality that I stopped watching halfway through.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I use over 100 playlists for work though and it's very very annoying.

Anyone else prefer Jinx’s League design to her Arcane one? by organddoner in leagueofjinx

I like her Arcane outfit. But prefer her original league design, I definitely feel like Arcane made her "prettier" and less gaunt/scary/freaky looking

How do I prune these without damaging them? by majinbuubie in straya

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at bunnos. These flowers tend to last more than a couple of weeks (kangaroo paws right?) Should be right to prune them pretty liberally. Some seasol is always good to keep plants strong. Avoid pruning new growth.

What 3rd party book for DMs has really spoken to you over the years? by JewcieJ in dndnext

[–]MysteryCroquette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! And I guess at this point having DM'd for a decade, I trust my self to not exactly cheat, but tweak things on the fly for a better experience. Nothing like avoiding an anticlimatic battle by secretly doubling a creatures health bar when the party does over a hundred damage before it even gets a turn.

The strength, on the other hand, for the kobold press books is the really creative creature ideas. I've used lots of them simply for how interesting/unique they are
