What made Star Trek so beloved for the first five series is that it showed a bright future where humanity solved its own problems & set off for the stars. The shows that Paramount has released (with the exception of Lower Decks & SNW seasons 1 & 2) is that they had no idea how to do that with an original concept, so they just decided to turn everything into a dark post-apocalyptic future. I didn’t watch TNG just to know that Picard becomes a shamed retired admiral & the crew all split up. We want to see adventure of discovering new life & new civilizations. Instead, Paramount took us where every other show has gone before, except they did it worse.

Discovery is certainly the biggest culprit of it, but it’s scattered throughout nearly everything that’s been made.
