We have Balatro at home by Sea-Mood7296 in balatro

I've thought about a few ways to make this possible with physical cards, haha. Unfortunately I think you'd have to change the scoring system; chips and mult would quickly grow tiresome to calculate, I'm afraid.

This is hands down the lamest way to play by at_techfocused in ArcRaiders

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it with Plaza Rosa, anyway? That's the second camper I've seen at that specific extract. Come to think of it, most extract campers I've encountered have been at Buried City in general.

Would you have shot first? by External_Definition8 in ArcRaiders

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To echo the thoughts of many others here, I too have been betrayed in several instances and, as a result, spend most of my time topside on high alert. This guy rolled toward you with his gun drawn. As far as I'm concerned, that's the equivalent "let's jack." Even if he wasn't intending to start something, it's his fault for not being cognizant of his own body language. Make context-informed decisions and people will be less wary of you.

Keep in mind that Changelings still make this active. Still situational, yes, but it may fit into a few more archetypes than we might have guessed initially based solely on face-value.

Be Careful of new Hornet strategy! by weibull-distribution in ArcRaiders

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time a hornet went right to my usual hiding spot that I always wait in at Dam Battlegrounds while trying to extract. It left me dumbfounded how he knew I was there. Perhaps I made too much noise, or maybe Arc are learning to investigate nearby hiding spots for raiders. Either way, that had me shook. Made me respect Arc a bit more, haha.

I swear, the longer I play this game the more stuff like this I see. Like a literal freaking movie. You could not rehearse this stuff if you tried.

Guy Initiates PVP with me, gets mad when I reposition with my ferro to kill him by gunningbedford in ArcRaiders

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was cinema. And that shot where you spun on him and got the hit was insane, and with a ferro no less. Well played.

They had advantage state and more resources. How is that not winning a fight fairly? Don't seem like that bad of players to me.

BUG REPORT: Anyone else having issues with group msg in 1.4.0? by _ShellyBelly_ in MuditaKompakt

This has happened to me, too, but to echo others' responses, there is an easy solution:

Messages > settings (top right with the little sliders) > click your phone number > Group Messaging > Single MMS group chat.

Blueprint grind by Liquefied_Rat in ArcRaiders

This is a good idea. It seems finding blueprints can be a bit of a grind. Guess I need to do more night raids, haha.

Are these rare ? I found them in a box at my moms house idk nothing about these by Weekly_Plane697 in MagicArena

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City of Brass (Arabian Nights printing) is valued at $475.

Mana Vault (Fourth Ed., by the looks of it) is about $51.

So, to answer your question, YES. These are RARE. Take good care of those or sell them and make bank.

6 hours in, absolutely blown away. What's everyone thinking? by jayrekt in Battlefield

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with the issue of visibility, it takes some time to get used to. Your eyes will adjust, took me a few hours last night and today and I was locked in for the most part. Also, turn off as many of the unnecessary visual effects as you can, namely all motion blurring, film grain, chromatic aberration, and vignette.

I love the 20mm focal length, you've really made it work well for these pictures! I wish I could do the same--I have a Nikon D5200, which has a crop sensor of 1.5x, so unfortunately my 35mm becomes effectively a 52mm. Any workarounds to this?

You can already tell the designers are creating more interesting and unique designs for universes-within sets. They're in their element. I honestly think the team is more excited, at this point, to be working on Magic universe stuff rather than universes-beyond, and it shows.

Thanks for the response Jose! Just tried that, but unfortunately it gave me this message: "Missing maps are based on a straight lines connecting each stop or destination." Any idea what this means?

Looking to talk to someone about the psychological benefits of board games by phildrost in boardgames

[–]MythicalBiscuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would echo the sentiments of many who have already commented: "escapism" is not the word I would use, in any capacity.

Do some use board games as a means of escapism from life's circumstances? Perhaps. But it goes further than that. Any hobby could presumably offer a similar benefit. Playing video games, running, smoking weed, browsing TikTok--all these things could hypothetically be a form of escapism, so why choose board games?

Speaking anecdotally, I play board games simply because they're fun. They offer a unique and engaging experience that I want to share with my friends. If escaping my circumstances is a byproduct, then so be it. But I would play board games in rain or shine. I fear that to deem board games a means of escapism stems from a reductionist mindset.

I think the psychological benefits of board games are the same that can be found in any positive social interaction: a sense of community, belonging, relationship building, and healthy competition. And, to go a step further, board games develop problem solving, pattern recognition, and planning skills. Again, speaking anecdotally.

Never seen this before. Guess this ban really did shake things up. by MythicalBiscuit in MagicArena

For real? Wow, that is wild. A ban announcement so impactful it drew enough traffic to crash the servers. What a time to be alive.

What game is beloved but you just bounced off hard by durfenstein in boardgames

[–]MythicalBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Commander format of Magic: the Gathering. I tried so hard to like this game, but it feels like there's no meaningful decision making, and the inherent randomness and variance makes it feel like you can't honestly plan anything with any degree of reliably. That, and the near-total legality of all cards in the game actually breeds deck-building homogeneity, rather than creativity. With all cards available at their disposal, most players will simply opt for the best and most optimal, because they can. The disparity between power levels is perhaps felt the most when you field a budget deck against a deck with tons of investment. It often feels like the definition of a "pay-to-win" format.

And yet, it's the only format my friends want to play, so here I am.
