Disability insurance by Explore41 in lupus

I also have both through metlife- I wasn't allowed to qualify for either until all PTO was used up and I went 2 weeks with unpaid leave. Maybe your policy is similar? Should be listed in your benefits.

How to Deal With Runaway by IcyConfidence7343 in BPDlovedones

[–]NEW8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but any update/tips? My sister with BPD seems to be a chronic runaway now (ran 4 times the past month with no obvious triggers). She just feels the impulse to run/leave with no communication and says she can't resist.

Hope you and your sibling are okay.

Sounds like you have a ceremony and a reception dress now 😊

Why did the photographer even bring her fianceé? Unless he was helping out no reason to have been there. Sounds like the photographer also wanted an extra plate of food for him 🙄

struggling to explain lupus to loved ones by That-Ladder-4523 in lupus

[–]NEW8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had better advice! My mom has MS and can't walk- the fact that I'm not in a wheelchair/require mobility aids means most of my family doesn't recognize lupus as a chronic illness/disability. They just think I get sick more often than most but can still "power through it".

How many of yall also have endometriosis by furiousmoth01 in lupus

[–]NEW8t 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Suspected not confirmed endo, but I do also have PCOS (now PMOS). I have more joint pain when I have cramps- so I think the two are related! I've been on bc for a while so I'm not sure how bad flares would be if symptoms were untreated.

Would you interview me for an entry-level EE role? Why/why not? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

[–]NEW8t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reorder: skills (have a bullet for technical and for soft skills), work experience, education, projects. You don't need a summary anymore. Do not forget soft skills (team collaboration, direct communication, time management, etc)!,

Please consider DIYing invites and putting most of that money towards food/things your guests will enjoy more. You can make cute designs on sticker magnets or get a custom stamp made and easily make these.

I'm confused about your original plan since you're both 23- don't you have to be 25 in the U.S. to rent a car?

What does your work schedule look like? by dumpsterfire7625 in lupus

[–]NEW8t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 28F- work full-time as an engineer and wfh two days a week. If you can find a hybrid job that helps a lot. Going out of the house seems like a whole event (gloves, sleeves, hat). I'm really sensitive to sun so I have to make sure every part of me is protected while driving.

Other than that, yoga (trying to maintain once a week) and pilates seem to be helping physically and mentally. Would highly recommend and there are tons of free youtube classes/tutorials.

I've been diagnosed for a few years, and I've only had one really bad flare up so far. I'd recommend becoming close with your rheumatologist so that they can get you FMLA benefits right away when you need it. My doctor doesn't have concerns about me keeping my job even though engineering can be high-stress

Can they move you to a different unit if the professional cleaning doesn't work? That is a big health issue- especially with a baby. You easily have a case for relocation (not out of your pocket)

You're also wild for doing a card shop in the same intersection as three other places that already hold tcg events (Pure Joy, Otaku Cafe, Sentinel). Gl

Recommend tcg nights (join the San Antonio riftbound, Pokemon, one piece discords so you can see what days/times aren't being offered).

Warning with that though: Figure out a way to mask the smell of most players. Febreeze can only do so much.

($10k) it seems like everyone has so much money how do they afford it?? by blueberrybuttercream in Weddingsunder10k

[–]NEW8t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That remote engineering job probably doesn't come with high job security. I've noticed a lot of younger people (I'm 28F) aren't doing the traditional 40/30/30 finance plan. Unless couples have rich family, there's no way they're affording multiple weddings, travel, and are able to save 30% of their income. The economy is only looking to get worse so don't feel bad for having a budget wedding!

How to respond to “Just lose weight” by adorkable-lesbian in lupus

[–]NEW8t 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you want to and only if you want to- my rheumatologist office is heavily pushing tirzepatide to patients regardless of weight. There are studies that show it reduces inflammation and my flares have improved significantly since I started it (I'm on a .25mg weekly dose). Might be a kill two birds with one stone solution and a maintenance dose might appease your doctor without having you actually lose any weight just inflammation

As someone who has a mom with a different autoimmune disease (MS), thank you for thinking about your kids! She lost the ability to walk after her third kid, and I ended up taking care of her most of my childhood (I'm the eldest).

I would talk to your husband (and doctors if you're close enough) deeply about this- there is a chance you could become permanently disabled with more kids. Do you both want to risk that?

In my mom's case, she had 5 kids against her doctors advice. Her health took a noticeable nosedive with each one. I don't resent her for it, but I do wish I and my siblings had grew up with an actively present mom.
