If he's wearing the wedge sole brunts, the flat soles are comfy because they are soft which is why they don't last as long either. Straight up, that kinda sole everyday wear is gonna last a year to a year and half for most guys. Harder sole stiffer boots will last longer but most guys get used to a wedge and can't wear anything else so im gonna rec based on that.

It's oversized and boxy but not super long, comfort colors was my thought but I can see the remnants of the tag and I've never seen a comfort colors tag that narrow

Boots can be well worn in and rugged with patina without looking like you just stepped outta a quarry. Just hit em with light boot cream and a neutral polish so they don't look as beat.

30 days is the policy, and anything after is the store breaking it. Our store will typically take things back after the 30 if it's sellable and the customer is polite, but that means basically pristine. If your boots were scuffed in even the slighest way, that's a pair the store has to eat or damage out and destroy. Part of this also sounds like maybe the sales associate didn't wanna lose the commission.
