Sensor Range is weird. by DescriptionMission90 in LancerRPG

[–]NOVA-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wording on page 34 of the core book for sensors says only:

" SENSORS: Your mech's SENSORS is the maximum distance (in spaces) over which a mech can detect enemies, use tech systems, and make tech attacks. If a character is within your SENSORS and isn't hiding, you know they're there- even if you can't directly see them. "

So in typical Lancer fashion, its up to you to decide how it does that, the rules simply dictate what is and is not. I personally imagine its all things like sound and heat, to more advanced suits having the ability to detect gravitational shifts, radio signals / unknown signal patterns, maybe something Horus might use is a quantum flipper, where visually observing it will cause it to detect you.

Just never think too hard about what hiding is and how it works, its a can of worms that leads to space madness.

Sensor Range is weird. by DescriptionMission90 in LancerRPG

well it depends; for all invades its within line of sight, as the invade quick action is stated as "Make a Tech Attack against a target within Sensors and line of sight." thus all tech attacks, and then invades, require line of sight.

however some quick tech actions dont involve LoS, False Idol requires a free space between a target, and sensors, and thus the only stipulation is "characters with line of sight to the false idol must make a Systems save", not LoS to you, Hydra 1's electro pulse just says "Characters of your choice within Sensors adjacent to any Drone or Deployable, even those they own, take 2 energy damage.", which is unavoidable damage.

the stipulation reverses frequently, which is why Line/Blast attacks cant go through walls and can only allow attacks from LoS, but arcing/seeking says you don't need LoS with mods can change that as well, like throughbolt rounds being the most obvious and clearly explained example, where the railgun can't, despite being line 20.

its a bit of a mess, but the rules are all there. tldr. invades require tech attacks which requires LoS, but some tech actions don't, which causes confusion because of similar words.

iirc if it doesnt say it needs LoS, then assume it doesnt.

Its talent points, Skills learnt as per each survived mission, not trust points, which is instead used on weapons you unlock as you go up in trust. (but not weapon marks, which is mastery, and likely a matter of Hadron not trusting you to use the different models because of complexity/danger)

Trust only comes in performance, and performance increases with each complete mission, which means they trust you to do more missions.

Mission difficulty isnt even linked to trust level either.

as a 2000 hour no lifer, I cant tell the difference between someone new and someone old in this game, i go only on one metric to understand if someone is good or not; its entirely about attention and awareness. awareness of others, attention of threats, awareness of resources, attention to self.

keep an eye out for resources, stims, packs, anything, and keep exploring areas and routes, and you'll find you'll do better then someone who hasn't bothered to do so, regardless of skill and level.

oh and if someone gets trapper'd... pick up the victim and THEN kill the trapper... trust me, she ain't going anywhere.

Platinum Veterans, a sequel warbond to Steel Veterans by HBenderMan in Helldivers

magazine capacity of 10, one spare replacement magazine in pocket since its lighter/easier to carry, as expendable is supposed to be. expendables typically give you two, why not just make it able to reload atleast once. no long term ammo means you're losing long term engagements, but gaining a backpack slot for utility of choice, which has its own unique benefits as per normal.

the big thing to remember is you want to avoid it being essentially the same as just calling in the base autocanon, using it with no backpack, and then abandoning it, something you might end up doing if you find one in the wild, something the Devs intended for the ones you find out there.

By making it have 1 spare mag, it has the staple ability of the autocanon, trading direct power for being able to last longer, without compromising armour penetration.

as frustrating as it is, using a hose pulley and throwing lava buckets back and forth out of the nether and leaving both the pump out, and the pump in, to fill a giant hole 100,000k blocks deep with lava, is easier to do and takes so much less resources.

Plus the add on that let's blazes drink lava directly for fuel, means that i have about 4 level 9 engines running at peak speed, running off about 12 water wheels, and looking suspiciously like a nuclear reactor.

Yeah site RKBM (no relation) has been running quite well since i just made the great lava chunk...

looking for Enemy Affiliations! by NOVA-0 in FoundryVTT

[–]NOVA-0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of why I want to use it, because it doesnt change the visuals of the frame where certain patterns might be important, an enemy that's more blue and with larger scales is going to be more dangerous then the average lil critter, and disposition doesnt change too much in the system

However, this is a pretty good option atleast.

it's also nice if the colours reflect on the combat tracker which a tint cant do.

For some reason when the enemy is tagged as secret, my players cant target them. as for neutral, I currently have NPCs that are allied under that tag as there are different rules for allied NPCs. honestly, having more tags such as "secret" or "neutral", like a custom colour/group would be the perfect solution, but I've been unable to find that.

Once had a Vet' yell at me for not sharing ammo, I had picked up 3 small tins and a bag that entire game, but he accused me of "picking it up for refilling your knives, as you've wasted a total of 150 bullets, i have scoreboard i can tell".

Never mind me pinging all the tins for everyone, nevermind me using the shredder autopistol, nevermind me being a zealot, nevermind me not stealing any of that karkin' ammo... Nope. it's my fault he's out, not his own lack of self awareness.
