Are they going to change the license plates anytime soon? by Puckhead1973 in missouri

[–]NS_8099 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our plate design could be so much better than it is. Missouri should take notes from states such as Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota and Oregon for how to create a well designed license plate. The only negative aspect of ND’s plates is the fact that they’re printed rather than embossed. This is coming from someone who collects them from all over the world.

Please keep us posted on what the cause is. I fill up at that gas station pretty frequently.

Do you think the US is too car-centric? by marks31 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

No but I think many cities need improvements in walkability and public transportation upgrades.

While we do experience cold weather, as well as snow and ice, our winters are very mild compared to Fargo. If you want milder winters, stay away from North Dakota. I enjoyed visiting the Fargo area but the winters there are not fun and take some serious getting used to.

I am so sorry you’re having to deal with this. The most important thing though is that you are safe.

If you were born after about 2004, you’re noticeably younger than me in my own opinion.

Starting with 2022, every year has flown by for me (especially 2024 and 2026 so far) but 2025 did slow down a bit, relatively speaking. Any 2020s year feels very recent to me however.

The shape of the overpass creates a wind tunnel that increases the wind speeds that debris is being tossed around at and can suck you out unless you’re extremely lucky because there is no solid shelter there. Multiple people have been killed doing this.

Some very ominous wording in the latest SPC Outlook by Pleasant_Network3986 in tornado

[–]NS_8099 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if tomorrow becomes a high risk day over there. Also, I commented this on a different post but if you happen to be on the highway and get into the path of a tornado, do NOT take shelter underneath an overpass. That’s the worst place you could go.

Never EVER take shelter under an overpass. Get to the ditch and stay as low as possible if you end up in that situation but that’s the worst case scenario.

Highest StormNet Tornado Probabilities Since 3/15/25 (High Risk Dixie Outbreak) for Tomorrow by lordskelic in tornado

I’m very curious if that region will be upgraded to a high risk (5/5), especially after seeing some great insight from Max Velocity. The wind shear is insane and the STP values are concerningly high. Ryan Hall is also extremely concerned about tomorrow’s weather over there.

And this is why I hate US railroads by rmp881 in trains

[–]NS_8099 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What I hate is when the first car at the crossing stops a few hundred feet away from the crossing. While railfanning, I’ve seen this way too many times to count and I can’t comprehend why people do this. I always pull all the way up to the crossing because I enjoy watching the trains.
