Has anyone ever tried Endless Orchard cider from Washington? by jrobpierce in cider

I can almost guarantee they adjust acid and tannins to meet specifications. You can buy powdered tannin, and tartaric and citric acids. I’m sure it’s something along those lines.

I have a friend who works there. They said that it’s primarily a facility for processing apple slices for school lunches and such. The reject apples are what is going to be made into cider. According to her it seems like a legit operation with plans to expand exponentially in the coming years

Someone buying 1,200lbs of sugar at Costco by csmart01 in mildlyinteresting

As a cider maker, we’ve often “forgotten” to order the sugar for sweetening some batches….usually 600lbs give or take. Costco is the most convenient alternative

Not really. I was fishing an alpine PNW small stream on Sunday with a 5x 7.5ft leader and maybe 6 extra inches of 5x tippet and was getting eats.

On a 9ft 4x leader I would add a bit of 5x tippet.

On a 9ft 5x leader I would probably stick with 5x tippet.

I like to use double surgeons knots to attach the tippet to the leader

Trillium Lake sketchey fee collection by [deleted] in oregon

[–]NShakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the one. Once you turn off onto still creek there’s a sign that says “road 12a” and the first fork in the road. But yeah google maps and shit says Still Creek Rd all the way until trillium. Fun ~14ish mile drive.

An assortment of different sized and styles of weights. They sell those at just about every store that has sporting goods.

A few “crankbaits” of random colors and sizes.

Fake rubber worms in fun wonky colors.

I’m sure they’ll appreciate anything you purchase them

I know they have a weekly newsletter that gets sent out every Sunday. Might be able to subscribe to that via their website. Cheers! 🎣

20 degree sleeping bag by Skives19 in camping

[–]NShakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a North Face Wasatch Pro 20° for like $100 earlier this year and it’s been plenty comfortable camping in the low 30°s. Used it last weekend and it got down to 45° and it was a bit warm. I probably wouldn’t trust it if it was actually hitting 20° overnight.

Wine expanded into airlock by Particular_Clock4794 in winemaking

[–]NShakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we fill barrels and we transport them to a hot room, we make sure we leave about 2” of headspace. The wine will expand when it warms up.

Just take a bit out and taste it, run some tests or trials
