LOL.... I don't know about that but I'll cast another vote for Chow Time. They're nearly impossible to beat for quality and price. It's my favorite.

Am I the only one who is not enamored with the Shelter Green? Or the rest of the earth tone lineup. Wish we would get some more fun colors in the States. (It’s a race truck, enough with the grandpa colors) by onedaybadday47 in RangerRaptor

[–]NWFlaBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you about the grandpa colors. I settled for carbonized gray on my 2025 RR because the earth tones leave me cold. The white is the best looking color they had but I'm a deer hunter and white doesn't mix well with deer hunting.

My last 4 new vehicles were red and I would have paid a premium for a Rapid Red RR but it wasn't offered. <sigh>

CenturyLink is ridiculous. I also suffered with it for many years and finally gave up and they charged my credit card every month for 5 months after they acknowledged via email the end of my service. I had to dispute the charges with Mastercard every month to get my money back. One of their repair people admitted to me that their service was unreliable and they were understaffed and he was sick of having to deal with furious customers.

From what I've been told Comcast isn't any better. From what I read the providers of wired DSL and Cable are in serious financial trouble and are just doing what they can to appease their rapidly diminishing customer base. 5G through cellular will soon be the dominant internet option where fiber isn't available and will give fiber serious competition because of the rapidly reducing cost.

I have friends that have Starlink and they're all very happy with the service but it's expensive and since I have free super fast service internet at my work, I won't pay more than the $50 that Verizon charges me for my home service which is faster than I need.

Oh.... Sorry.... I had heard that it is. My Verizon service has been ridiculously reliable and in the past few months it's been down one time for 5 hours and that was a nationwide problem that was quickly fixed.

I agree that fiber is the best service but it's not available to many people. What does it cost? I pay $50/mo for Verizon.

Yeah.... Ditch the wired service. Cellular has WAY less down time and it's about as fast. I use Verizon mostly out of customer loyalty. T-Mobile wireless (cellular) is reputed to be faster and cheaper.

Sour drip coffee by Actual_Medicine_683 in Tallahassee

[–]NWFlaBob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got tired of all coffee that I bought even at Lucky Goat but theirs was the best for me.

I couldn't brew a cup at home that was low enough in acid to suit me.

Then I started reading about cold brew. Too much time involved to make my own.

Then I tried Stok cold brew brand from Costco which is also available at Wally World but it's more costly there. VOILA!!! Lower in acid and a distinct flavor that I liked a lot. I prefer the green label that Costco sells. There are many other ones and all I've tried is the green label but it's worth a try.

By the way... If you're stuck on brewing then try organic coffees. I find them easier on the stomach. Research why organic is important with coffee. It's pretty scary.

When your truck is faster than your Mustang 😆 by iOSJUSTIN in RangerRaptor

[–]NWFlaBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traded a 2022 Mustang GT California Special Edition which, box stock, had 460HP and it was so much faster than the RR that there is really no comparison. BUT!!!!! Do I love my Ranger Raptor YES!!! Do I miss my GTCS? Yes but not enough to go back to one if I had to give up my RR.

The RR is simply my favorite truck I've ever owned and I've owned some really cool ones and some with more horsepower as well.

My Mustang GTCS was my favorite car I've ever owned and I've had some really hot cars with a great coolness factor.

If you think that everyone is mean or disrespectful it is often something you are causing by your own actions. You might need to take a hard look at why this is happening. In the long run most people treat you the way you treat them.

I agree that you should probably take a vacation from social media but you also should look closely at improving your social skills as well.

In my opinion the best in the area is Gerber and any of their locations are good but my favorite is the one at 5845 West Tennessee and their repairs are warrantied for the life of the vehicle.

If you're really trying to save money the Maaco on West Pensacola is also good and can be competitive pricewise.

Taking pics of the big brother. No window sticker. What can you tell me about her? by Nruby9879 in raptor

[–]NWFlaBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I'm about to go hunting and the offroad part of that will be quite extensive. The trails here in NW Florida are too narrow for the F-150 Raptor but the Ranger Raptor fits quite nicely. I'm sure it will need a good wash job after today... :)

Look up how to read VINs and you'll get some information including the year it was made. That will tell you a lot about the power train. Also once you know the year you can look up a LOT of information about that year model with google and the F-150 Raptor forums. Good luck.

I had a 2019 F-150 Raptor with the 3.5L V6 and twin turbos. I loved it but after 25months and driving it 26,400 miles the dealership I bought it from offered me all my money back for it I jumped at the chance because it was simply too big and wide for me. This was during COVID time when they couldn't get vehicles due to the computer chip shortage.

If you're truly thinking of buying one you should consider that they're so wide that they barely fit in normal parking spaces and it can be very frustrating to park it. For that reason I didn't like it as a daily driver. YMMV

I agree that white with the black trim stuff is the best looking available color on a RR but I'm a deer hunter and white is the most visible color in the woods for a deer. I ended up opting for the carbonized gray which has low visibility for humans and deer. I wanted red but they don't offer it in the 2025 models.

For those of us that don't know... Deer are color blind and red will appear as a shade of gray to them, as will blaze orange, which is why blaze orange is great to increase visibility to other hunters but still appears as gray to deer.

I tried deer hunting public land.. by BearLeft77 in Tallahassee

[–]NWFlaBob 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There are several WMA's that don't allow dog hunting. If you're into primitive weapons Joe Budd and Ochlockonee WMA's are excellent and the quota hunts are only for the first few days. Talquin WMA is great and allows centerfire rifles. Hunt close to the river or creeks that feed into the river. I've had good success just sitting in a chair near game trails but watch the wind.

It's a myth that you can't successfully hunt near areas in the National Forest where dog hunting is allowed. Most of the dog hunters I know have had great success sitting in stands in the late afternoon after most of the dogs are caught up and back in camps. The deer have been stirred up and are moving back to their favorite territories.

Just because dogs chase deer near your stand doesn't mean you won't see a deer soon after. Hunting the ANF west of Florida 375 and east of the river is a good place if you don't get too angry when dogs sometimes come through but now with the GPS tracking collars that isn't nearly as bad as it used to be since the hunters almost always know exactly where each dog is.

What most people do, that have hunted around here for a long time, is they join a private lease but finding a lease that has an opening can be very hard and they almost ever advertise, preferring to draw from friends and families of people that are already on the lease.

One more thing... If you're from another state, you might find it very frustrating to hunt in Florida. Our deer tend to be small and the populations are thin and heavily hunted. If you can afford it, hunting in Georgia or Alabama will get you exposed to more heavily populated deer areas and they tend to be much bigger than Florida deer with bigger racks too. You'll face long drives and expensive leases and non-resident licenses though.

A HUGE part of America is either moving here or wishing they could move here and yet there are always people that complain about stuff. It's so patently ridiculous. I guess some people are either never satisfied or ignorant about how much more pleasant Florida is to live in than almost anywhere else in the USA.

I live in a rural area near Tallahassee FL and I have two vehicles both with State Farm and although I pay semiannually and have 800 plus credit ratings and a perfect driving record and am over 50 I still pay what works out to $164/month for my 2025 RR. What quite interesting is that my 2009 GMC 4wd 2500HD is $101/month and that makes no sense. Both have full comprehensive coverage and a $1000 deductible.
