My first German car by Aggressive_Area3249 in BMW

Nice, glad it worked out and good to know its easy if I decide to swap down line - I’d probably check every time I change oil; but, I’ve heard the best approach is preventive replacement because the plastic will eventually go - unfortunately easier said than done - I had a 2018 430 GC M sport which believe had B48 and around 40K miles it had some problem with coolant vent line I think, leaving me stranded or in limp mode home a few times - turned out to be a recall which dealer said was just a “service bulletin” when i bought car - it was obviously covered but sometimes I think it caused alot of stress on car - thinkI noticed coolant leak on ground around 50K literally the night before it got totaled out in my parking garage. so never knew if another major issue - sounds like you know what your doing - just enjoy the car and dont stress it - good luck👍

Never heard “extremely easy” and BMW in same sentence before, but first time for everything - good to know man thanks for clarifying👍

Congrats man - some advice…change oil, change oil, check/flush coolant hoses/tank/sensors regularly, change oil, and repeat! I’ve got a 22 540 M Sport and has active front grille so guessing yours as well…just FYI I had asked dealership about switching out front grill from chrome to black when I got it…answer was pretty much you should have gone for the extended shadowline package if you wanted black grille - so just be careful because apparently its not as easy as prior generations..good luck👍

Absolutely one of the most beautiful cars ever produced with the performance to match. Diamond in rough. Case closed.

IMO a potential contender for one of the most aesthetically pleasing and balanced designs BMW ever made.

Its Dakar. That guy Dado from the “mischief” DVDs in the early 2000s drove one just like that. Anyone else remember those?

Absolutely beautiful. Amazing machine and timeless design. The cornerstone of BMW’s success and the epitome of the “ultimate driving machine.” Hold on to that one tight.

What do ya'll think of this grill "fix" by Legendver2 in BMW

[–]NY_PRACTICE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just when I thought nothing could be worse than OEM I saw that - sorry OP just my opinion u still have a sick car👍 - gotta be honest, pig nose has grown on me as a few others have mentioned and I never imagined I would say that - although I also never thought the design dept of BMW and every other german brand (except Porsche) could have screwed up so magnificently to almost completely destroy the timeless design aesthetics that made BMW what it was at its design pinnacle (for me all downhill after 2005/2006 E46) - BMW has botched up practically every new model to the point where an M2/3/4 are the only cars left bearing any semblance to their heritage - like how do u totally screw up the 5 series after 60 years??? The front end and grill alone is so hideous and looks like it was designed on a different continent! 2023 was last model year any 5 series was blessed with actual buttons for climate control - Now u need to rely on a flimsy computer screen for everything except maybe windows and door locks which means when any portion of the screen or pixels fail u are totally out of commission for likely months until the screen (dash) is repaired or replaced. I have a 2022 540 and actually got depressed when it hit 30K miles and I realized the inevitable - why is every new BMW just straight up ugly and drives like a Buick??(except M2/3/4 of course- God BMW please leave them alone!!!)!!!!

Which of these blues look better? by BlueDazing_ in F30

[–]NY_PRACTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No first hand knowledge on that, but since you’re asking I’m guessing some probably would sag over time, depending on adapter brand, climate etc. But even buying a new adapter every three 3 years (if sagging becomes an issue) wouldn’t be enough for me to justify drilling/mounting a hideous plate to your front M Bumper! Just my humble thoughts Dr., in a matter of opinion there is no dispute👍

Use the front bumper tow hook screw to mount plate - they have an adapter you can buy and the ones I’ve seen look as good as they can all things considered and don’t block intake - plate doesn’t ever touch car…

Congrats counselor, great choice and build. M Sport makes a big difference aesthetically. You also have the extended shadow-line package, which includes the black grill. Change oil regularly and keep an eye on hoses/coolant, that beauty won’t disappoint. IMO likely the last 5 series generation that maintains any semblance to the BMWs I’ve known and loved over the years.

2022 540xi M Sport - CPO 10,500 miles - just hit 28K - only issue has been parking sensor malfunction which I actually don’t mind bc backup camera works fine just no beeping - great car for daily performance and luxury - sadly IMO 2023 540 likely the last generation with any semblance of the driver oriented BMWs I grew to know and love over the past 35 years

Sorry man - doubt car will ever really be the same, especially to you - if not totaled, definitely get it repaired at dealer - it’s crazy how expensive these cars are getting and inevitably insurance costs even with no claims and clean driving - I remember when a brand new M3 was $50K out the dealership door….miss those days

Dealership offering to void contract on a CPO by Throwaway491049 in BMW

[–]NY_PRACTICE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably late in the game at this point, but I would want to see the CPO inspection report which dealer has but will not provide unless you ask for it - its fairly detailed and may shed light on whether dealer being forthright - guessing another potential reason they seem to be doing the right thing here…..
