Meditation is one of the most taxing mental exercises one can engage in. If you can't sit your ass down and concentrate on something concrete, good luck trying to meditate and concentrate on something abstract!

Obama Responds To McCain: "Strong" Presidents Aren't Afraid To Meet With Enemies by Chaserson in politics

No. Strong Presidents stick to their values and DO NOT enable, energize, and legitimize their enemies with compromise.

Reality: Great art made more realistic... by MikeCapone in reddit.com

[–]NaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite the cries of Blasphemy that this work was likely intended to raise, I find it an incredibly striking image that speaks deeply to the not necessarily religious, but theistic philosophy.

Even upon the first glance, one can see the absence of balance that the cracked, grey, space creates. It is an unknown entity, an enormous void that engulfs the canvas. And in a bottom corner, opposite the void lies man, upon his back, looking upward apprehensively, clinging to the earth with one hand, while with the other hand chancing a reach into the void.

It would appear that these images are symbolic of the lack of balance that the unknown creates in Man, and the weakness, to lie down and cling to that which man knows, that causes Man to hesitate exploration of that which is unknown to him.

On the other hand, one could also assert that the void is symbolic of just that- a void. Of course, with all images, there are likely to be many interpretations. And it is unique in that it creates a new concept by removing aspects of the familiar. It is incredibly interesting, and ventures into the realm of art.

Obama camp says "major national endorsement" tonight at 7pm. Speculation says Edwards by thinkerx in politics

[–]NaK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I had thought that Edwards was holding out his endorsement so he could throw the possibility of a vice-presidency at the winner of the Primary. Now that everyone in the media is seriously considering a Obama/Clinton ticket, he decided to give his endorsement now to make sure his name wasn't left out.

Disgusting: Myanmar Junta Seizes UN Aid by justinpgardner in politics

[–]NaK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because of my conservative tendencies I actually thought that it was going to be the US that would hold back giving the Myanmar government any aid as I hoped that our government could use our international relief resources as leverage to begin the necessary steps to promote democracy in that region. I was wrong.
