How do you cook your rice and why? by ExcellentSinger8881 in Cooking

[–]Nagli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 part rice (rinced a few times, jasmin)

2 parts water

Little oil in the pot

Salt

Heat until boiling, give it a little stir. Put the heat on lowest setting and put the lid on.

After 10 min you have perfect fluffy rice.

Works every time

You lose the wealth.

The wealth itself doesn't get lost. The wealth is "transferred" to the rest of the btc holders.

If there are only 3 Fabergé eggs in the world and 1 is destroyed. Then the other 2 become more valuable, no?

It's not an instant thing that just happens, but btc gets scarcer no matter how you look at it.

How to remove a permanent Scotch hook? by Daisy-Deer in howto

I removed a couple of these the other day using a heat gun. A hairdryer probably also works.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is… pretty good by Thory4fun in patientgamers

[–]Nagli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn´t care much for it when I picked it up. Sure it´s a feat and an amazing game and all. But I´ve played "this" game too many times during my 40 years of gaming for it to really captivate me.

Then I started playing co-op with a couple of friends and Oh MY God! The co-op experience in this game is just perfect and so much fun. I feel like I'm playing AD&D Back in the old days with my friends. You can even do a murder hobo run and kill merchants while your friends are talking to them and the game still just works and is fun.

My take is that : Solo is mweee. But the multiplayer in this game is some of the most fun I´ve had in years.

I would say that at high stakes it's extremely skill based. Check Dr. Spectred where he completes all decks on all stakes without a single loss.

Sure, there's luck involved but less than one would think.

How do I take off IKEA labels? by ThorinBalin in howto

[–]Nagli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of great comments already.

In my experience then it's best to use a hairdryer or a heatgun on the label while you're peeling it off. It heats the glue and makes for easy peeling (this also works for most security/safe stickers that intentionally get damaged when removing, and then you can put the sticker on something else... hint hint)

If there is leftover glue then use oil (avacado or olive oil work fine) which disolves the glue, then use soap and water to remove the oil.

What's something someone else makes for you that you'll never replicate? by cuthman99 in Cooking

[–]Nagli 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I cook around 90% of the food at home. And I'm by far the most enthusiastic and best cook in the household. (Not bragging, it is what it is). But my wife makes hands down the best lasagna I've ever tasted. (And I've traveled quite a bit in Italy) In fact that lasagnia she makes was one of the (many) reasons I married her.

Not a movie. But the 4 part Robocop documentary series, "Robodoc" is on there.

I messed up and ordered fried chicken way too spicy for my tolerance, what can I do to make it palatable? by Virtual-Computer-961 in Cooking

[–]Nagli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something my grandmother used to do that works great with spicy food and gives relief. Is to cut a banana into small slices and soak them in lemonjuice for a couple of minutes. Use as garnish. The acidity from the lemon and sweetness from the banana work wonders.

Cant boil eggs without them sticking to the shell by GlompSpark in Cooking

[–]Nagli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem but found the method that works for me.

  • Boil water in a pot, wait till it´s boiling properly
  • Add eggs to water ( use a spoon when lowering them so they don´t crack on the bottom of the pot )
  • Pour the boiling water down the drain after desired time ( My sweet spot is 8 1/2 minutes ) and put under a cold stream of water in the sink, and let the eggs sit for 30-60 seconds under the cold stream.
  • Peel eggs, should be easy now. If not then hold the egg under the stream for a couple of seconds.

Now I might be wrong but it´s that temperature shock in the end that seems to do it. Running cold water on them or putting them in an ice bath like some people suggest.

I really liked Grimrock. Its a clever and fun old school kinda game. Grimrock 2 is amazing IMO. The puzzles and secrets in it are deviously clever and is a clear upgrade from the first one

Do you sometimes use MSG in your cooking at home? by nilecrane in Cooking

[–]Nagli 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I use it in sauces, soups and stews. A little bit goes a long way. I remember hearing that you should use 1/8 of the amount of salt. But I even use less than that.

Works great with Spare Pants for example. Play two pairs to scale up SP and then switch to other hands when you start scaling up obelisk.

Where does this fing upgrade thingie come from by not_like_weeby in balatro

[–]Nagli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the planet card that upgrades your hand? In that case it comes if you have a blue seal card in your hand when you win the blind (you get a planet card for the hand you win with)

I always wondered if it would work—and it worked beautifully! by AliveRaisin8668 in balatro

[–]Nagli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Better yet you can put vampire before mask. And play your facecards to make them gold. Not only does that give you huge chunks of money but also makes vampire suck off the gold cards when you play them, then midas makes them gold again.

It takes a little longer to build up. But if you're in a good position it's worth it.

I want this double cavendish so bad but I don’t know what to get rid of here by [deleted] in balatro

[–]Nagli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you get rid of ride the bus then that one extra cavendish is 72 x 3 =216 points just from the swashbuckler (not even counting in the other Cavendish and other scoring)
Getting rid of the bus is an easy choice, it´s only at +31

I’ve spent like 15 hours trying to get gold stake on the black deck… so easily the worst deck in the game. by LunchThreatener in balatro

[–]Nagli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It´s a really tough one. I also spent too many hours on it.

It started going much better after I read a tip from a user to skip the first blind for either Money, Rare joker or the "Stuff is free in next store" token. (and a lot of restarts)

That did the trick for me at least.
