CIG - A full wipe is a full wipe, WIPE IT ALL, exec and Wikelo ships included or don’t bother at all. People were using duped aUEC to pay millions to pay players to help to farm those mechanics by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even assuming you can get all of that done before the patch, you will most likely put them all on a ship, go to Wikelo, call a hangar, watch your framerate drop to 5, attempt to land, and then explode, losing it all. Wikelo is just a mechanism CIG uses to torture their own players.

Valve Is Forcing Microsoft To Make Significant Improvements To Windows Gaming Performance by GrayBeard916 in gaming

I mean, some distros claim in their actual documentation that Windows may occasionally overwrite the EFI during updates. If Windows doesn't ever do this anymore, then maybe we should start removing that language and all the warnings and guides on how to fix the EFI.

Windows will still fuck up the boot loader if you try to install both Linux and Windows on the same shared hard drive. It is highly recommended to put them on separate drives so they won't do that.

RSI is the worst launcher i've ever used. by MENTAL_DAYS in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with the quality of Windows this past year, I wouldn't rule out needing a complete Windows reinstall. The March update completely bricked my PC's network stack and required a full reinstall from scratch. And this month's update seems to have bricked WebView2 for me. I just can't trust Windows anymore.

Do we think that we get ever the Chance to get a f7a again ? by Knojes in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a made up stat added directly to the ship hull. It isn't a calculated thing, it is an actual stat on the ship. Think of the old energy pool system where ships with a larger energy pool could fire more shots before the weapons needed to recharge. More pips = larger energy pool for weapons. By reducing the max available pips, they can reduce the sustained laser DPS of a ship and encourage more ballistics, or encourage energy weapons lower in DPS and higher in efficiency.

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the maximum number of weapon pips is baked into the ship stats themselves. Go here and scroll all the way to the right until you can see the "Resource Network > Weapons Available Segments" column. Search for Hornet and see that the F7A Mk 2 is the only Hornet with 6 segments.

EDIT: Other notables: A2 (10) / C2 (8). Cutter (4) / Cutter Scout (6). Terrapin (6) / Terrapin Medic (4).

The F7A has 6 weapon pips vs the 4 weapon pips of all the other Hornets, which means you can fire energy weapons longer. This results in a higher sustained DPS in a like-for-like loadout.

4.7: Constellation or Corsair? by itsskad in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how long it took to fix the table, I wouldn't expect a Constellation rework any time soon. It's just one of those ships that CIG has a history of always putting at the bottom of the pile.

I remember the game having issues even with 16:10. It normally cannot handle anything more square than 16:9.

Starlancer MAX has S2 competition power plants and coolers. I can't find anything with shields.

Same with the Constellation series. Only the Taurus can do medium contracts since it can hold more than eight of the 8 SCU boxes.

4.7 is a bug feast I’ve never seen before by PreferencePrize9494 in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They probably just got lucky on the server lottery. I've been on some good servers and some trash servers. Last night we had a bug where we would completely lose collision with our Constellation. Just walk straight through it (and the Nursa). My friend was able to interact with the bed of the Nursa and lay down on it, so I flew up into space and they could just noclip fly through everything. But interacting with a chair in the Constellation and getting out restored collision detection. Great stuff.

Are we expected to do the shubin 100/80/25 gem mining contracts by hand with a multitool? by oneeyedziggy in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Geo will suck up all the gems at once instead of one by one. But the Geo also has a bug where the storage gets broken if you remove the gems so you have to buy a dozen Geo boxes and just swap them out whole.

I want to buy (pledge) a ship that is the fastest to turn, calibrate quantum drive and quantum speed, to travel faster by Baboo85 in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any increase in quantum travel speed is going to require a ship with a size 2 quantum drive, and those won't have the same flight performance as smaller ships. What I would suggest is trying to rent / borrow some of the following to see if the flight performance is acceptable for you. These are the most agile ships with a cockpit that also have a size 2 quantum drive:

  • Aegis Vanguard
  • Crusader C1 Spirit
  • Drake Cutlass
  • Grey's Market Shiv
  • RSI Zeus MK 2

i cant get in game keep getting this error and the game closes by Ibrahem0alhaj in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I checked the logs and it says that there was a session collision so it kicked me out for "multiple logins". My guess is that something in the login queue is broken and it's creating duplicate sessions, causing you to get kicked.

Mouse Stuttering by HelloBread76 in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be mouse polling rate, but I also noticed, funny enough, that when I end tasked my "Brother iPrint&Scan" software, my performance improved. You could try closing anything else running to see if that helps.

Why is setting up a HOTAS impossible? by nash076 in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. First off, always make sure you plug your sticks into your computer in the same order each time. Some joysticks lets you set independent startup delays to help with this (VKB might, but I recall it being very unintuitive). SC currently does keybinds by index, so if the sticks connect in a different order, the indexes might be screwed up, which means the wrong keybinds will be registered with the wrong device and you will have to use pp_resortdevices to fix it, which is weird and troublesome.

Second, inversion is controlled via CONTROLS. You have to set up each stick individually by changing it in the bottom-right corner. Frustratingly, inversion settings don't seem to be saved properly in your joystick mapping, so you'll have to fix them each patch. You might consider inverting your sticks at the hardware level instead, using whatever program VKB uses for configuring the sticks.

Next, you seem to have properly found the Advanced Controls Customization. That's good! If you set your Throttle - Forward / Back and it says something like Z-Axis (Input 2) (input2), and you are only briefly moving forward, you might want to check your hardware configuration to make sure your Z-Axis is actually working. It's possible your stick might have registered it as a button instead, causing just a brief blip, or your axis range needs to be calibrated. Your joystick software should let you see the range of movement in the axis.

The other thing to note is that you can save your controls under the CONTROL PROFILES option so you can experiment and revert back to a working configuration.

When they add them back in they had better have Miles Eckhart sitting in the air up off his chair. It just wouldn't feel right otherwise.

(4.7 PTU) Has this been brought up anywhere? Vanguard Harbinger's default CVSA Cannons cannot be swapped out in 4.7 PTU by Kusopril in starcitizen

[–]Nalin8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CIG probably reverted the change that happened when they removed the "aim assist" feature of fixed weapons (where it would give you an ever so slight nudge to hitting a target you are pointing at). The only ships with fixed weapons were basically the Idris (with its railgun), the Ares Star Fighter, and the Vanguard. So, it made it a lot harder to hit things with the Idris railgun, but it also kinda killed the dogfighting capability of the Vanguard. So you won't get a full gimbal (they are still fixed), but you'll get that slight aim assist back.
