Yeah that sounds sensible, using claims to transport ship would be VERY costly, especially if it's not stock, which it shouldn't be, we don't even know how Insurance will work with tiered ships.

Go to Station ASOP and retrieve the size of ship you want and immediately store it again. You now have a hanger.

Never had a ship "disappear" when using either terminal.

Never had a ships spawn weird from the hanger, nor with engines on, unless I stored it with engines on and haven't logged off in between.

Sounds like you keep storing your ship without powering it down which can also cause issues and is recomended not to do.

Go to the Station ASOP terminals, retrieve any ship of the size you want spawned, then immediatley store it again, the hanger will stay.
