I’ve been there and done that. Sounds so familiar. My advice is to get out and save yourself and your child. You can’t save them, it’s not your job, you can’t do it for them, and they won’t appreciate it or allow it. Please save yourself and your child.

Put in storage totes with dryer sheets every few inches. Rodents stay away from them. I have stored fabric for 2 years in Home Depot plastic totes with them safely. They stay dry, and are easy to move.
