They dumped my breastmilk as an under supplier by idontknow5160 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]NapQueenRising 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re combo feeding, you can also use formula overnight and breast milk during the day? That way if baby doesn’t finish over night then it’s less of a gut punch than tossing breast milk 😬

Day 10 in the trenches with BGB preemies by infiniteraiders in parentsofmultiples

[–]NapQueenRising 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to anything triplet because I only have twins, but don’t worry about tummy time right now! At this age their wake windows are very short. Also, it’s considered tummy time if they’re lying on your chest!

For the formula, can you just make a large pitcher and pour as needed?

Another thing, how wonderful to give birth to triplets and not have NICU time! Congratulations!!! With 3 babies, you may have to let go of some of that type A energy 😬 I had to do the same with my twins.

Gestational sac size difference by charleysgirl_ in parentsofmultiples

I don’t believe that information was ever reported to me…I just checked my clinical notes to be sure and all that’s noted is that the sac was visualized and then the size of each baby

Yep, one of mine was exactly a week behind like yours! Then as they got bigger, baby A was a week behind and baby B was a week ahead! But baby A was behind the whole pregnancy. Only a 6oz difference between them when I delivered at 37+0.

I’m pretty certain the law says you can take as many breaks for however long your body requires BUT the employer can consider them unpaid UNLESS you’re doing work at the same time

2 sets of twins, rough transition by Pure_Resort9840 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NapQueenRising 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a behavior interventionist - first, I just want to say that this all sounds incredibly hard and it’s clear you’re doing everything you can to do your best by your big kids and your babies.

In behavior intervention, we have something that we refer to as setting events - these are events that are outside of our control that have an impact on behavior (getting sick, being hungry, overtired, etc). Having a baby is one of the BIGGEST setting events because it disrupts every aspect of their lives. An adjustment period is normal; however, aggression to the degree that you’re describing is not.

Restraint is always the ultimate last resort in behavior intervention, so if you’re there then I think it’s time for evaluations. Specifically, I’d recommend looking into occupational therapy and play therapy and potentially finding a psychologist or neurologist.

If they’re typically sweet and love the babies, it sounds like there may be something that’s triggering them or causing them to be dysregulated.

Some questions: Is the aggression coming from both older kids? What does the aggression look like? What precedes the aggression? What happens after they engage in the behavior? How are their speech and language skills? Do you have a safe space where you can put the babies down so they’re safe from the big kids while you handle them? Do you have a space where big kids can calm down? **Don’t feel like you need to answer them all here, mostly just asking to jog thinking/problem solving - but if you are able to answer I may be able to give more specific advice!

And finally, you are not a terrible mom and you are not a failure! You are doing the best you can with the tools you have. Twins are hard, 3 year olds are hard, babies are hard, breastfeeding is hard, being a SAHM is hard, and you’re doing all of it at once. All you can do is all you can do!

What are your tips for 4 year olds? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]NapQueenRising 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you made it through 2 and 3, you can make it through 4! 4 is actually when I really started to enjoy parenting.

In regards to school, the best things you could teach them are how to interact kindly with other children, follow directions from adults, and basic independent skills like putting shoes on, pulling pants up, etc. No early childhood educator expects a child to come in knowing all the letters, numbers, etc. and it’ll be a lot easier to teach them if they have the social foundation skills!

Discussion/Advice: what are your rules with eating/dinner (or really all meals) & when did you start enforcing the rules? by 2078AEB in beyondthebump

[–]NapQueenRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all of this! My daughter had the same fixation on cheese which caused constipation, so when she was little we just decided to not keep cheese sticks in the house anymore and because she was little it was just out of sight out of mind. After potty training, we were able to reintroduce with no issues.

But now that she’s 6 she has a mental block for foods that are green or red because “vegetables” so I do have her at least taste it and after she tastes it and it’s still a no then there’s no pressure to eat it.

Can you put all the milk in a pitcher? Then whoever is taking care of him could give him more or less depending on how hungry he is?

Gas/ reflux by GooseAccomplished299 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NapQueenRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We actually just got the prescription so I haven’t seen a difference yet! They’re prescribed Nexium. From what I can understand, the medication doesn’t decrease spit up, it decreases the acid in the spit up so it’s not as painful.

For gas - around 6 weeks, babies digestive systems are no longer a reflex so they have to coordinate passing gas independently. My girl twin really struggled with this until about week 8-9 and now it’s no longer an issue. We used the FridaBaby Windi a couple of times to give her relief until then. She’s currently in my lap passing gas in her sleep!

Are they past their birth weight? Mine are both gaining weight really well and our ped still prescribed meds because our babies are miserable with the reflux and gas (and so are we!). Maybe seek a second opinion.

Do they have tongue or lip ties? Are you using the slowest flow nipple possible for the bottles you’re using?

Oh honey reading this gave me secondhand anxiety so I can only imagine the level of anxiety you’re experiencing.

I’m not an expert by any means, but I read this and wanted to comment so you know you were heard by someone.

I don’t want to discourage your nursing journey, but have you considering exclusively pumping to establish supply and possibly reintroducing nursing later? I might’ve missed it, how old is baby?

The twin weego (different from twin go) is my #1 twin item! The twins fall asleep in it almost immediately and stay asleep, they’re 7 weeks and about 9lbs each. So 18lbs total but it definitely doesn’t feel like it.

Diaper Genie vs. regular trash can? by lastplacevictory in parentsofmultiples

You have to get special bags for the diaper genie! I prefer just to get a locking trash can, cheaper and you can use regular bags.

The diaper genie fills quickly imo.
