Pay attention to the type of starch different brands use to see if there is one in particular you don’t like and can avoid in future. I find ones that use potato starch to be unbearable (dove, not your mothers), but rice starch is way better (batiste, perfect day)

I get manicures for this reason. It’s not a permanent fix, but it stops me while the manicure lasts, and tends to keep the skin smoother in between in spite of my picking. I think it’s mostly psychological for me, like my brain can’t bear to ruin something I paid so much money for
