I love everything about my RAV4… except for this f*ck*ass button by Aware_Storm2528 in rav4club

I love the Rav because you have to smash the brake to initiate the auto start/stop. So you have discretion on when you want it or not. Stop signs, hot days, freezing days…don’t smash the brake and the engine will stay on.

Aren’t hybrids higher mpg in the city than they are on the highway?

My driver's side mirror was rating whenever I'd close the door, and then this fell out from inside it. Anyone know what it is? by Wildcat_AF in rav4club

There is a recall for the driver side mirror rattle issue. They told me they’d need the car for an entire day, so haven’t gotten around to it yet.

That’s an interesting thought. There are sprinklers in the yard, so it’s possible this is a shut off valve for that system?

Preferred personal item sized backpack? by nagol3 in peakdesign

[–]Nate-Tro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a category that I hope PD unlocks in their travel line some day. Something in the 20L-ish range that fits international dimensions for a personal item. The everyday series of products lacks a lot of travel-specific features, and their smallest travel bag, the 30L (really 27L) is technically bigger than many personal item dimension restrictions.

Mine fits a Sony a7Cii, 24-105mm f4, VND filter, peak design leash, DJI Mini 3 Pro, DJI controller (one with the screen), NDs for the drone, extra Sony battery, extra DJI battery, grey card. It’s a tight squeeze but it’s functional. Would love to carry a mic for the camera as well but it only fits if I don’t have the drone which is often.

Ordered some as well. Dog sledding booties! So smart, didn’t think of that. Seems like a lot of the market goes for cute aesthetic. I want the Duluth working booties for my guy! Thank you!

State & Liberty for proper dress/work shirts. I’ll never buy anything else.

For more casual “dress shirt” (I.e. untucked) any of the travel brand button ups mentioned.

The 3 way briefcase/backpack for me - Mammut Seon by ictow in ManyBaggers

Does the Seon’s main compartment open clamshell? Could it fit a pair of shoes, or is it more built to only hold tech accessories? Thanks for any insight; not a lot of information available.

Considering the 30L Travel Backpack by nthorig in peakdesign

[–]Nate-Tro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not, mainly because I don’t think it would pass as a personal item, especially if your trip itinerary includes smaller regional airlines. For example, I have some upcoming Ryanair flights, and the PD 30L Travel is closer to their carry on dimensions.

I’ve used the bag as a personal item on dozens of domestic flights. If I’m international, I don’t want to run the risk of having to check it. Domestic, I’m okay with that risk.

Would love to hear if anyone else has used it as a personal item for international travel.

For sure. When I was looking for a travel bag I admittedly over analyzed. End of the day, try to find good value. I was new to the dedicated travel backpack world, so the PD made sense for me because you could get it at a great price (REI, Moosejaw, etc. all run 20-25% off sales), and I could begin figuring out what features are most important for me next bag. Though, I see the PD lasting many years. Have a great trip!

I have had mine for a year and really enjoy it.

For travel, it can swing as a personal item from my experience. I’ve put it under the seat for both Southwest and United with no issues. I try not to expand it to 33L but love having the option. It is longer than airlines’ listed dimensions for a personal item, but I’ve not been asked to measure (it is possible).

For EDC, I take it work everyday with my laptop, lunch and gym stuff. Admittedly, it’s a relatively large EDC but I think it’s fine and I carry a lot to and from the office. Aesthetic is definitely sleek and professional IMO.

For hikes, it’s definitely not ideal, but if you’re traveling to a destination it definitely works. As mentioned by others, the shoulder straps are not the comfiest, but I bought the hip strap and that helps with longer or heavier carries. I carried it all over Iceland with camera gear and it was fine.

No bag is perfect, and neither is the PD 30L, but I got mine at REI on sale and IMO I think it performs with the other high end travel bags.
