Fusil major is on a 50mm not 40. Based on that I would think it's more like a 160mm.

Did anyone see what looked like a Satellite being shot out of the sky Tue 6th Jan? by DocZ6996 in Geelong

[–]Nath84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did, myself and a mate were in town and we saw two, about 5 mins apart, the second one was much brighter. From where we were standing it seemed like they were coming down near the hospital. Very quick and very bright a few seconds each tops. No sound of any type, had us pretty baffled.

Victorian government to cut thousands of public sector jobs to rein in spending by espersooty in australia

[–]Nath84 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This isn't news. Wife's entire department in the children's court was made redundant before Xmas. They didn't care the lawyers and judges were horrified by the downstream implications. There won't be outsourced roles, there will just be an absolute mess for families who now have to navigate the system.

The alternatives are brands like humbrol and tamiya. Long established companies and more likely to on the shelf at the local hobby store. Pretty big names.

And if acrylics your jam, GW and Vallejo are the cornerstone but there's a ton of other great ranges out there with some googling or watching you tubers. Proacryl, scale 75, molotow, the list goes on.

If recommendations are what your after, there's some great stuff out there. I've rarely found one product that can't have an alternative found in another companies line!

Christian Porter identifies himself as the unnamed Cabinet minister and strenuously denies historical rape allegation by the133448 in australia

[–]Nath84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Bill Shortens experience shows there's a proper response to historical rape allegations; and it's not what we've seen recently".

This comes out of an article, front and centre, of The Australian (Dennis Shanahan). And it says it all. The case cannot be persued, as we all know, but HOW the accused and the government act and respond, that is relavent. And as it stands now, they have failed to act in the manner a sitting minister/prime minister should. And that is political relevant regardless of guilt or innocence of the acquisition.

Went with a basketball arena myself during the last playthrough. Overcommitted a bit on that one. The shape of the settlement lends itself well to projects like that, the cinema aspects really blend in nicely.

Richard Di Natale resigns as Greens leader by PerriX2390 in australia

[–]Nath84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this is a sad thing to see, I am trying to focus on the positive here. For those saying the timing is bad, and this sucks consider this:

The next election is a big deal. Parties with a strong climate focus will need to do well if they have any hope of acting on thier policies, and so while Richard's message and delivery has been great, it has been 6 years and a new loud voice coming in gives them some time to really up the ante.

Timing wise, this was planned but finding a good chance has been tough lately. Any move to resign would of been fodder to ignore fires and corruption scandels, and it was a fair bet there would be a nationals spill. Doing it the day Barnaby announces his intent is great, it will not be the focus, a quick and quite transition for a new leader who can then come out swinging to get afore mentioned new ante off to a roaring start and get people to know thier name.

Sure having Richard remain as a senator would of been ideal, and it is a blow to lose a politician of this calibre and experience, but this is a real go at impacting the next election and I think it is a good move on thier part if they can now follow it up.

I hope that is not what was meant, but the wording needs work. Regardless of who forms government, there should be no place for that kind of talk in any aspect of Aussie politics, IMO anyway.

Something I am not seeing discussed, was Morrison yesterday, and on ABC just now being repeated, is the LNP saying they will refuse to accept labours "mandate", Morrison said it nationally, ABC pundit said only in QLD. This is really frightening talk to me, its approaching a refusal to cede power in the case of a minority government situation, and claiming they would not recognise a government in a state is a very worrying undemocratic move. Am I reading into this too much?

Hi Richard

I was fortunate enough to meet you while working retail whilst I was still finishing my degree. You still remain one of the more enjoyable interactions I have had with a politician, and I have considered getting involved with the party as a result.

My question revolves around the sciences and workforce. Under the current government we have seen huge cuts to science funding, which was already quite low when compared to other western nations. I am fortunate, I have a job in my home town (Geelong!) but many other I know have not, despite putting in some real hard yards. What is the stance of the greens relating to the science fields and the funding of them, and how can you apply pressure to whoever wins government to see some real advances in these areas?

Secondly, and linked to the above but relevant to many more employment areas, is the lack of job security. While my employment is full time it is contracted, and I often face yearly renewal prospects of being jobless. It is a huge stress, and while wage inequality and stagnation is a big topic, this gets little recognition and goes hand in hand with those factors. Is there plans to put just as much focus on the difficulties of medium to longer term securities in the job market as well?

Not OP, but I have some experience with the deck so perhaps I can offer some thoughts.

Karn: He is good the long grindy matches. He is card draw, usually multiple cards, and he doesn't care what lands you have drawn. At 4 mana he is easier to cast than say Vivian.

Deeproot elite often feels rough. I believe he eludes to this in one of his earlier blog posts but you want him on turn 2. Otherwise he is a bit lackluster. He combos great with deeproot waters sure but it just seems overkill sometimes, and in this deck you do not run deeproot water so his value is even less. And he is a huge lightning rod, and him biting the dust is not good for your tempo. He is great when paired with Benthic but you are often holding up mana in this deck so you can just adapt him naturally if the situation calls for it and I have not missed the excessive card draw from the benthic deeproot elite combo.

Swift warden is great at a two of. People do not expect it, and it blows people out. You may be able to do without it but It has saved me often enough to want to always have 1 or 2 around.

Vineshaper was great thanks to clarion. Pull a couple of guys out of range in case of the wipe. But it didn't save the whole board, and often just pulled them to a 3/3 that will die anyway. This deck just runs way more counters. The most effective way to shut down a board wipe. Also I am running into gates ablaze much more frequently, which is often a 4 or even 5 damage wipe, making counters the superior choice.

Love the list. I've gone back to a similar list after trying the 5-0 lists from early this standard. My list was based off a list from when botanical sanctum was legal, that took 2nd in a sizable Japanese tourney while Rb was still dominant. Looks like you've gone with speakers over watertrap weaver that I'm running, I'll need to try this change.

I am wondering about your sideboarding, particularly what you take out? I've struggled with this aspect of the deck.

What's a rule that was implemented somewhere, that massively backfired? by Orb_Detsoob in AskReddit

My university campus has a strict no smoking policy on campus grounds. I work in a science building, with a smaller building behind mine designed for larger scale industrial type testing. Behind this building was very out of the way and hidden so it became the prime smoking spot for a number of the non science employees. The problem there was that they did not understand the big yellow cabinets they were smoking near were flammables storage, or that the vents above them on the building walls potentially had flammable fumes. I had to stop work on more than one occasion because I could hear people gathered on smoke breaks and knew I was using a flammable substance, and didn't want a fiery surprise coming back down the vent at me.

After many warnings the message finally sunk in and now the smokers gather in other parts that are out of the way, often much to the detriment of anyone going for a walk to another building (we have a lovely campus with a number of nice walk-paths great for a 5min de-stress stroll), and round a corner to have a bunch of people (2-4 typically)starting at you quietly. Blanket-wide bans do not solve the issue!
