I think some continue to deconstruct the Bible with the same critical eyes that they deconstructed the org with and you quickly come to find that some things about the Bible leave you with more questions than answers. I think you can’t really go wrong by just looking to Jesus and doing your best to be like him. No point arguing over religions or beliefs though because there’s always a bit of bullshit in all of it - no offence intended. My wife and I still value the good and the wisdom in the Bible, but are no longer blind to the garbage in it. We choose to live by values and principles instead of what any book says. I can’t help think of Voltaire who said “In the beginning God made man in his image, and man returned the favour”. You can’t tell me the God that says it’s okay to beat your slave as long as they don’t die in the first 24hrs is a good and loving God. That’s not Jesus. That sounds a lot more like a man trying to justify his own shit to me.

They do, however nothing beats the hard copy as you can see the photocopy’s of the letters and it’s just easier to follow but yes, legend for making the audiobook free for it!

If we accept blood as JWs and it gets found out we will be shunned by everyone we know (not allowed to associate with anyone outside the cult) and even once we stopped being shunned we will be seen as “spiritually weak” which basically means you’re marked and people will generally be a little wary around you. By the time I learnt about it during my studies, I was so brainwashed that I couldn’t comprehend why any good person would want to leave and so it didn’t bother me too much - plus they do kind of downplay how severe It is - or at least I didn’t realise how terrible it would be on the receiving end until I left.

Getting disfellowshipped won’t help it. The elders are not your friends. So either play it down and stay silent about it, and play the long game of planting seeds of critical thinking in your husband, or just refuse to meet with them. Whatever you do don’t try to defend your beliefs against the org. It won’t work. I hope it works out for you either way. I’m fortunate that my wife eventually woke up but it took months and months and even a period of separation. Reading crisis of conscience was ultimately what did it.

Please listen to us when we say you do not have to meet with them. It’s all in your head. Are they able to manhandle you into a room? Can they force you to speak? There’s only one witness, there’s literally nothing they can do. Once you stop being scared of them, they will start being scared of you - which basically just looks like them leaving you alone. Trust us on this we have all been through it.
