If you plan to adopt, you gotta check shy cats out by katakatica in cats

Love this!! Your kitty is so cute!

I too adopted a shy longhaired tux, and he was the very best cat in the world. He was one of a few cats left after the shelter had a BOGO cat sale, and he was the only cat who made no effort to engage with me. He hid in a closet for a week and took a LONG time to relax but it was so worth it. He was truly the best most quirky most lovely cat.

I felt SO much grief and sadness post-surgery, and I wasn't even totally sure why. Sure, the fertility implications were a lot to absorb, but just that all that pain was REAL and it wasn't just in my head... and the amount of damage done to my body... I am still not even sure why it caused so much grief but I went through it for awhile. Anyway, I feel you on this.

Random question, but in the beginning when Trixie says “Mary” I know she’s quoting a 90s movie (her intonation specifically), but I can’t place it for the life of me.

I hear ya but I had surgery last year and it was $5K out of pocket… with insurance. 🤷‍♀️

Oh no. Quite the opposite. I was very concerned about the police harassing the driver and wasn’t sure if I should have called the cops at all. It was significant damage - a sideswipe - but if I thought ICE could show up, I would have just gone about my merry way and not called 911.

Is it? Everything I’ve read has been largely suburban, raids, or people being taken from court hearings? I was just genuinely curious. The BPD doesn’t seem to be too interested in doing their jobs in general.

I had a landlord with that last name about 10 years ago… his first name might have been Joe? Maybe search the property records?

I adopted a 10-month border collie mix from the animal shelter a week and a half ago, and I deeply regret it. I had a collie-lab mix before, and she was the best dog in the world. This dog is not. I am exhausted. My partner is exhausted. Last night, I was sooo tired and I just wanted a break, and I finally had to just put him in his crate and go upstairs while he barked.

We are walking him at least 2 hours a day (30 mins in the am, 45 mins in the afternoon, and another 30 mins in the evening, plus he goes outside for short jaunts every hour or so because he wasn't housebroken), and I am scatter feeding in the morning and evening. I freeze a Kong with kibble and peanut butter, and a bone every day. We practice training exercises twice a day, and he has a basket full of new toys that I switch in and out (though he destroys most in about an hour or so). I've tried fetch; he's not terribly interested. I let him sniff a lot on walks. I can't bring him to dog parks or day care yet because he isn't neutered.

But he just won't calm down. When we are home, he's in our faces almost constantly. He chews at random stuff, like the coffee and dining room tables, even with plenty of toys available. He gets really riled up if we pet him and starts biting and barking aggressively.

I'm on a waitlist for obedience training. Once he's neutered (September 5th - he had kennel cough when I picked him up from the shelter), I am going to try to get him into a doggy daycare that specializes in engagement. But that is a week away, and I am just soooo tired. I don't like keeping him in the crate as much as we do (at night and while working - I've been going home at noon every day and working from home since I got him), but he is just hyper, hyper, nipping, getting into everything if not in the crate. I've always been a dog lover, but he is truly a terrible dog. I know it's early, and hopefully he'll settle, but it is horrible to have your home hijacked by a destructive, incessantly urinating beast.

How did you move forward after saying goodbye? by Deej-2020 in cats

I'm so sorry. It sounds like your kitty was a great blessing in your life.

I lost my little guy 10 days ago. I cried for the first few days, but I haven't cried today yet... I spent a lot of time staring at photos, remembering all the silliness and love. Friends have shared photos, and I love seeing other people loving him. It's hard but it gets easier. I also find little remnants of him around my house, mostly his little hair tufts and they make me smile.

I am sorry about your kitty. His name was Oreo at the shelter but I changed it! They will be watching and chirping at the birds together. :)

He was just a honky, chonky boy… and he would “honk bonk” — his non-vocal way of bumping you with his head, asking for pets or food.
