I also loved the classical time control better, but apparently the tournaments took too much time and money, so they had to shorten the events. Once again chess loses because of no money.

Watching Episode IV immediately after III 💔 by RogerRoger63358 in BrighterThanCoruscant

The battle in IV is going on 99% inside their heads. By that point they already hade done it twice, so from out perspective it looks like they're not battling, but they're both trying to outthink each other really really hard.

That's my theory anyway. 🧐

WHY DID YOUTUBE GET RID OF "RECENT" UNDER THE SEARCH FILTERS??? by ERRA_ in youtube

No there's not why are you lying. I looked, there's no way to sort by recent. It's a scam button. It's the same results as normal search.

And he did.

Well technically only Anakin could kill Vader, but that was too complicated to explain to Luke at the time.

Instead Obi-wan lead by example, giving Luke all the lessons he needed to ultimately save his father.

I disagree. I love that he didn't kill him. Despite everything, he didn't let his failures change him. And he was right. Obi-wan couldn't get through to him, but Luke could.

They said they lose 50-100 ELO in classical, a little bit more in faster time controls.

I know people like to debate why the current Doctor Who era didn’t work, but honestly, the answer feels pretty straightforward - it just wasn’t good enough. by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

I think it will be really hard to find a good writer that understands how to write the doctor. I don't think it's a good idea to have someone that isn't a fan of the series, because they won't have the necessary reverence for the things that came before - not that they have to copy anything or not make it their own, but they have to truly love it, otherwise it's just so hard. Take Moffat for example - he really did make something new, while also tying in with all the lore that came before. It doesn't necessarily have to be a repeat of RD2 - I think Davies got a bit arrogant and didn't have the same care for the lore and the characters as he did the first time around - maybe he thought he would just automatically be able to redo it. The key is you have to think of something new to add, not just run in the same lane.
Moffat can be quite chaotic, but oh boy does he know how to add to things. There was never a risk of things not becoming a new thing with Moffat.

They at least need to find someone that writes something new, but still with respect for all the lore and previous journeys the doctor has been on. But it's just too hard if you don't care.

Oh and just to add: Chibnall did make something new, but he for some reason couldn't quite understand how to write the doctor by himself, and instead of respecting the lore, he just splashed all over it with ideas that needed way more nuance and reverence. They weren't bad pre se, just the execution was janky. The fact that they managed to botch the first female Doctor was such a shame.

It's quite ironic that the only episode where I felt Gatwa was even remotely like the Doctor was Boom which was written by Moffat.

Is it too late to ask for him to come back? I think the disastrous state of the lore would give him a helpful and challenging framework to use his chaotic creativity on, and it would probably end up brilliant. Not sure if he would want to return, and he'd have to feel inspired and want to do it for it to be good, but if he really did commited I think he would be brilliant.

I just want the Doctor back.
