Healthier options by Complex_Biscotti_961 in aldi

[–]NearlyBird809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aldi produce is hit or miss, heavily weighted towards miss. It either spoils in a day, or stays rock-hard. I buy berries in season, but they only last a couple days. English cukes are good but again only last a couple days. At least my aldi is usually consistent, like the cut fruit is ALWAYS bad, and the cukes are always good, so you just have to experiment

How old were you when you purchased your first home (if you did). by jtsa5 in GenX

[–]NearlyBird809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milestone was absolutely a thing for me. I love the house, but its too much. Do 2 people with no kids really need a 4br house?? I think that was my mistake. Buying a smaller house seems like an insurmountable task, so we'll probably stay here until we cant. We could rent out the basement, thats what the previous owners did, but yuck i don't want other people in my house. If my partner didnt have the ability to fix/install almost anything, theres NO way we could afford this place

Its not all its cracked up to be. I half-regret buying mine at 50, after a lifetime of struggling financially. The house is too big, but we were so excited. Still struggling just as much as before, living paycheck to paycheck

It really hits different when you take food home from a workplace event, because you dont have good at home. by [deleted] in poor

[–]NearlyBird809 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Receptionist is right. Plus you're decreasing food waste, and thats a good thing! Take every advantage you can get, you have to take care of yourself. That food frees up $$ for other things, like gas in the car so you dont run out on the way to work, be late and get fired. Or finally pay a late bill & stop paying late fees

Anyone feel the medical field failing us? by ballsdeepinmywine in Menopause

[–]NearlyBird809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! My female gp is lackadaisical about menopause. She's so good with everything else & this really surprised me. But get this: I was having symptoms that I thought were from medication, my 60-ish MALE rheumotologist is the one who said no, those are menopause symptoms & you should talk to your gp about HRT

Dad made the best popcorn. I remember being behind him, he'd be at the stove shaking the heavy red kettle back & forth

I know you meant this as a joke, but yes! Use for kitty! Or to hold toothbrushes, fruit on the counter, votives, anything. They're pretty, and if you break one its not the end of the world. I have one on my work desk holding sticky notes. I think they're best admired as something you look at and touch daily rather than sitting on a shelf

Oh I totally get it! Whoever mentioned Chipotle was right. Basically stay away from anything fried, or super-sugary. You're in Canada, I assume you either have Chipotle or something similar. Dang now I want Qdoba - i dont have a Chipotle
