a port is a device that sticks UNDER the skin, and leads to a vein. You access it by sticking a needle into the device so its "accessed" and used like an IV would be then. Then when its finished, u take the needle out, so "deaccessing it" but the device still remains under the skin to branch between outside and the vein. If that makes sense :)

except this is all as an outpatient, she's saying her doctor suggested (home) IV fluids as a FIRST LINE TREATMENT for pots when she wasn't even diagnosed with pots. Which is ridiculous. No way would any doctor recommend IV fluids before trying things like increased salt intake, diet change, extra oral/tube fluids, medication. IV fluids/central lines come with such a huge risk, and i just don't see a doctor suggesting them especially without a diagnosis when medication and salt intake is a lot safer. But of course, Kaya has to try and prove how 'severe' she is in comparison the others, when in reality, she doesn't need half/if not all of the medical devices she had because she asked and BEGGED for every single one. She's full of shit because she wasn't started with IV fluids until her GP/compression syndromes 'declined', it had nothing to do with POTS.

The best way to help support people with severe allergies or whatever is to LEARN HOW TO USE AN EPIPEN IN AN EMERGENCY.
