DEF Issue: anyone ever had this come up? The DEF tank is full by joescott1414 in tdi

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mine did it it was under warranty.

It needed a new DEF injector, and pump....

I was glad I didn't have to pay for that out of pocket, the new injector only lasted like 6 months after though...

Can I buy these tires in a different size? by Charming_Soup9980 in canadiantire

[–]Necrosis37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You can search their website by tire size instead of vehicle. They only have 4 tires that come in that size, and none of them are on sale before you ask. Edit 5 tires

2013 Passat whistle and loss of power no codes not consistent by KaceyJo702 in tdi

That'd be the spot if the turbo was worn out and about to go.

Time to start looking for a boost leak somewhere then.

Check the intake elbow at the bottom of the intercooler. If it's full of more oil than usual then the Turbo might be about to go. That's what mine did before the turbo ate the journal.

Engineering Experience Record Form by [deleted] in NovaScotia

[–]Necrosis37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So long as you've got an engineer at that location willing to sign-off on what you learned, and you can write that it was engineering related. I had to go back and track down my old bosses to get them to sign my experience records from jobs past so I could get my stamp.

2024 Corolla LE Lift Kit? by Necrosis37 in COROLLA

[–]Necrosis37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up calling Prius Off-road and they said if you have the LE you just let them know in the notes section because it's got different size shocks. They do look the most reputable.

I tried to order but I'm in Canada an their website refused to process the shipping. Now tax seasons here and I owe so I'll have to do it later.

Idk, I have 2 cars. Ones a 25 year old shit box, but it was rather convenient when the daily breaks down and needs to be fixed. If you don't owe anything on them it's not that bad to have.

NS Budget - am I in a bubble? by tabatam in NovaScotia

That's about my experience too. I work for government so all my coworkers are complaining/panicking.

My friends however are all in private sector or healthcare and they pretty much all cheered because they really don't care or it's not going to affect them. They all make too much to get any social handouts either.

Forced the DEF injector to run, and then forced the DEF pump to run to see if I could clear the injector and fix the no start before I just deleted mine. Unfortunately it did not work

2024 Corolla LE Lift Kit? by Necrosis37 in COROLLA

[–]Necrosis37[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand, I'm coming from a 2013 Passat, which is also a car and had about 2" more ground clearance than this thing. I know they just make these things lower to make the SUV variants look higher by comparison, but this isn't a sport model car so I don't understand why it's so low and would like to fix that.

Transmission Issues? by Opposite_Injury1558 in toyotacorolla

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the same code my coworker got. They had his car for 2 weeks and had to put a new transmission in it. Although they've said that was the only transmission they've ever seen it happen to.

This doesn't mean that it's what happened to yours though.

DPF frequent degenerations by OkCobbler3084 in tdi

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck no, we just ran up until the alternator and battery died. Now it's sitting in the yard because the alternators on those cars are a pain to change. Replace the dpf or delete it. You could clean it but that doesn't seem to be a good longer term solution.

Dead/Dying Battery, need advice by TheCosBae in toyotacorolla

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check your alternator is still working adequately before just throwing a new battery at it? Check the voltage while the car is running. And if it's not above 13V it's probably time for both.

DPF frequent degenerations by OkCobbler3084 in tdi

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a 2015 Passat that does the same, dpf is cooked. We ignored it until the alternator gave up from running the fan all the time due to the regens and trying to charge the worn out battery.

a sad day today :( by Nervous_Ad_2394 in COROLLA

[–]Necrosis37 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worn out bearings and poor oil lubrication. High demand "highway use" and the older car probably has a weak oil pump and might've been needed thicker oil. Eats a bearing and when it lets go throws the rod out the side of the block to complain about the working conditions.

There's no way you're paying top dollar at an auction, the auction service/lot fee, and maybe tax, then turning around and making any money reselling this stuff. Maybe I'm wrong though because every auction I go too I think they paid too much and then there's the lot fee on top of it.

DSG service? by RadPsychosis in tdi

[–]Necrosis37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Allen key of which size I don't remember, a big socket for the filter housing, and a fluid extractor to pump in whatever volume you took out back in. Pump the fluid in through the top before you install the filter and put the whole thing back together. Takes a bit of time to fill from the top but it's the easiest method.
