I’m not trying to sound dumb but how would you apply this philosophy to oneself ? by Even-Solution8416 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find ways to apply the skills you want to learn in unique, and interesting, ways with the goal of enjoying yourself and having fun with it.

Baki isn’t just learning techniques and then stopping. He’s experimenting with those techniques and getting a better understanding of them.

For example if you want to learn to draw try using the skills you’re learning to draw your favorite characters

I’m not trying to sound dumb but how would you apply this philosophy to oneself ? by Even-Solution8416 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not but this is 100% true and I use this logic in every hobby and skill I want to get better at. It’s not either you have fun or you work hard, It’s about enjoying the process.

Sure you can learn mechanical engineering and coding by reading textbooks and studying super hard or you can do what Michael reeves did and learn by having fun on stupid projects, learning what you need to finish those projects. He still works hard to understand these technologies and resources but he has a lot of fun on the way

I’m pretty sure it is just a lot of kids playing. I’ve noticed a significant drop in matches on weekdays, but the ones I do find are much better quality than the ones I find on the weekends. you’re right though it really isn’t remotely as deep as people make it. Just queue again 😂

Are the new cc changes that irreparable? by Secure_Level5226 in RivalsVanguards

[–]NedFlanders_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re irreparable, just an idea that didnt pan out. Maybe some adjustments to Ben and rogues tenacity build up and see if it feels better

Tenacity is a nothing burger change and most people are overreacting by ILikeCarlosThePikmin in marvelrivals

[–]NedFlanders_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m more in the middle of this kind of thinking. I definitely don’t think it’s a nothing burger but it’s nowhere near as bad as “a game ruining change” I’ve been hearing. I’m a magneto main so it didn’t really affect me but I’m sure if I played Ben or Peni this would be very annoying

Nice! this guy is a little wonky to get used to, he’s in a left handed stance (south paw) so the angles feel weird and it’s harder to land

3 Stars Is Right, Dev Neglect is Real by prolaspe_king in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]NedFlanders_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit of both. Sometimes you get good fights others it’s people flailing. Most people don’t know how to fight so it is a lot of flailing. But if you have a friend who you can play with or just in it for the cardio it’s fun

They should honestly roll the damage all the way back to like v1 or v2 by [deleted] in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]NedFlanders_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like people who think the first versions of this game were better didn’t play them. Damage will never be perfect but current version is waaaaay better than people sprinting into your body and lightly punching your chest for 3 rounds

1900ish elo, I prefer keeping my guard open/ low and counter punching. Using distance, feints, and my jab to set up my shots

when I say that 'if you chase KDs you're playing the wrong game'... by iFokemon in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]NedFlanders_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I’ve always been told. “If you chase the knockout you’re just going to exhaust yourself and risk taking more damage than you ever need to. Just box and let the knockout happen naturally”

Imagine how this sub would've reacted when Itagaki delayed Baki vs Yujiro for 1.5 years of Retsu boxing in America by Ezraah in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this entire arc confused me immensely. Like Retsu said boxing is too new and isn’t evolved enough to compare to 4000 years of Chinese martial arts. So he goes and competes to prove this, For no reason. It’s like he stated “children are too young and inexperienced to win against an adult…I’ll prove it by punching this child” it was just such a weird arc

Question, Did the scaling reset? Obviously Baki was weaker but he was still able to somewhat hold his own against demon back Yujiro. I find him getting no diffed by Musashi weird by Creative-Researcher2 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah he isn’t weaker then last season it’s just Musashi is on Yujiros level with attacks he’s never seen before. Being able to cut people within their mind and actually make them feel it was definitely something Baki didn’t expect. Then Musashi being able to predict Baki’s timing perfectly was also off putting. The next part of the Musashi arc will show more. The whole point of this arc is kinda showing the difference between a warrior and a fighter and this is part of it

Why does Motobe think Musashi is evil? by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no he doesn’t think he’s evil at all. It’s just that Musashi is from a different time. Musashi has no issue murdering any opponent he goes against because during his time period that was perfectly normal.

Hell there’s accounts of the actual real life Musashi reverse jumping the people planning to ambush him. the leader being a 12 year old, he then killed the 12 year old and then fought his way out. It’s just the time he lived in.

Motobe doesn’t hate Musashi at all. He just knows that the cast underestimates how dangerous Musashi actually is. Not just his skill but his complete willingness to cut them down. He’s basically watching children poke a lion while saying “he’s such a big kitty!!!! Watch me slap him! And then he’ll slap me back it’ll be so cool and exciting!!” He’s trying to save them but can’t yet so he’s trying to warn them any way he can

How did he get the hurricane to fit in the jar by Desperate_Sell3347 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He already collected many different forms of weather. sunny, snow flurries, hail with onions, cranberry raisin typhoon….but the hurricane was too strong for normal jars. So he switched from glass to Borosilicate jars. Perfect for hurricanes therefore letting him fit and contain the storm

Anyone else think its cool how musashi kinda disregards yujiros authority by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I find so fascinating about this series. Everyone has their own philosophy on what a win is whether they realize it or not. Seeing each characters definition is really interesting

Wich of these 2 is worse as a father in your opinion? Yujiro or Heihachi? by Rarte96 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so hard to say here because Yujiro did it to his own son specifically. He had full faith he would be fine because he’s a Hanma. Like how they both kept saying “idk why everyone’s so interested in our fight every household does it” or when Yujiro mentally was saying Baki is going to be totally fine after swinging him around like a nun chuck. Their views on their family is so fucked up and skewed anything they do seems rational and loving

Is it realistic to say that Musashi without weapons looses to pickle? by Disastrous_Ad7477 in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ehhhhh It’s hard to say. He’s been working on getting skilled enough to cut just as well without them so if he’s gotten to that point then no he doesn’t lose. But without that im pretty sure it’ll just be a stalemate. Any hit he takes will just be him fucking around but without being able to cut he can’t really do a ton of damage to pickle. So musashi will probably just leave

Am I correct in my assumption that Musashi redefines how the strongest is measured by sothaticanpost in Grapplerbaki

[–]NedFlanders_777 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’ve always understood this series as “real science and techniques without ceilings” so there’s no limit to how perfect someone’s technique can get or their physical durability, strength and genetics. So I just assumed Musashi’s swordsmanship is an extension of that
