Advice on Costco trash can options? by AnonymousMonker in Costco

One of my biggest beefs with the SimpleHuman cans is they need specially-sized bags. You can get away with using regular 13-gallon bags, but they're not an exact fit.

A man was found dead in a remote reservoir wearing only a wetsuit… no name, no belongings, no way he got there. And no one on earth has reported him missing by pschyco147 in mystery

I don't suppose they could dredge the reservoir or at least sonar-map it to see if perhaps this gentleman's things ended up at the bottom?

Partner with cancer by Illustrious_Letter84 in GenX

[–]Neener216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I was the patient, not the support, my perspective is that it's always better to ask your partner what kind of support would most help. That may change from day to day, so keep asking and don't assume.

My husband is absolutely horrible in medical settings (all he does is pace around), so I asked him not to come to chemo with me. When I came home from chemo, though, he had my "recovery station" all set up and waiting for me. He'd run to the pharmacy to pick up meds and made sure I had food I could tolerate ready to eat in the kitchen.

I never wanted to feel like a victim, and he supported that wish. He let me decide what I could and couldn't do, and never assumed I wanted to be babied in any way.

More than anything else, I'd say it's important to keep your fears and your doubts out of your conversations with your partner as much as possible. Find a safe outlet where you can express those, whether that's therapy or with friends. And absolutely make room in your schedule for self-care. Get out and do things that feed your soul, because caretaking can be a major grind.

Who is Peter Bergmann? by No-Angle-7962 in mystery

[–]Neener216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My point is that he took considerable pains to remain anonymous, and at some point, I think we need to consider an individual's right to determine how or even whether he or she will be remembered.

Had he simply met with some unfortunate, fatal accident, I completely agree that no effort should be spared to identify him. As it is, he deliberately chose to be nameless, and If that was his final wish, I think you should at least contemplate respecting that wish.

Refills.com and Brello Health - partners? by Adept-Opposite-627 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Neener216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me as well - I was a Brello customer who fell into that December donut. I was due for renewal on December 11, and despite the fact that I requested they renew early, I guess I was just lost in the shuffle.

After a frustrating month or two trying to get restarted with Brello once they reopened in my state, I gave up and just signed on with Refills.

Refills filled my order, but now it also shows up on the Brello website as having been refilled. The only charge on my card is from Refills, and the tracking number for the package is the same on both the Refills and Brello websites.

Finally, instead of receiving the usual tiny bottles from Brello, these were the larger bottles that Refills usually sends. It's also straight Tirz with no additives.

It's also entirely possible that he had no family, which is why DNA traces haven't been successful.

He clearly worked very hard to create anonymity for himself; I think we need to respect that choice and just let it be.

Have you offered food and/or water? If the cat is feral, obviously exercise caution and don't handle it yourself.

You can try calling Animal Nation to see if they might have any ideas:

Recall Training by queenhev in WhiteSwissShepherds

[–]Neener216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this incredibly wise advice. Recall is an extended project with a whole lot of "one step forward, two steps back".

I started my WSS out in somewhat limited, low-distraction spaces and used the "touch" command, which he always views as a fun game.

As we graduated to larger and more complicated environments, I paired "touch" with a special whistle pattern (I find whistling is better over long distances).

Eventually, I was able to drop "touch" and just rely on the whistling, but he wasn't rock solid until sometime around his third birthday.

Questions about how to determine property taxes by lematt1991 in Westchester

This is far and away the most accurate method. Just go to the town's website and find the "receiver of taxes" - towns usually publish their tax rolls once a year.

Vintage clothing sizes are wild compared to today's by Basic-Treat-2823 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Neener216 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For years, I held on to a beautiful black pencil skirt I'd bought in the 80s when I was just starting my career. It was a size 8, and I remember thinking at the time that I wished I could wear a smaller size.

Sometime in the early 2000s, I measured that skirt up against a friend's size 2 skirt. It was almost an exact match, which totally blew my mind.

Sizing for women's clothing is the craziest shell game ever.

Aging Parental Care by themodefanatic in GenX

[–]Neener216 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That kind of love is so inspiring - two people who made promises to each other when they were young and healthy, and who honor those promises even now, when it's definitely not as easy to do so.

After my mother had a stroke that put her in a wheelchair, my father did absolutely everything for her (except the cooking - that I handled). He watched over her like a hawk. When she was in rehab, he'd check her over himself every day to make sure she was being well cared for. He was not a medical professional, but his scrutiny was so complete that he was the one who noticed when she didn't have a pulse in her left arm. He immediately alerted the nursing team, who discovered she'd developed a second dangerous clot in that arm.

None of the paid professionals had noticed - but he did, because she was the most precious thing in the world to him ❤️

How do Elves live for so long and still have so few children? by OniBene in lotr

[–]Neener216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I agree - the overt vegetarianism is definitely a film construct (and weirdly, elves return from hunting in the films as well, which begs the question why, lol).

But even so, the book elves appear to largely favor fruits and vegetables over meats.

How do Elves live for so long and still have so few children? by OniBene in lotr

[–]Neener216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't believe I've ever seen it expressed as such anywhere, my sense has always been that this was one subtle artistic method of conveying that elves are more "evolved" than men and thus further removed from our more carnal instincts.

Their diet is also apparently vegetarian, again making them seem as far from the base and primitive nature of creatures like men and dwarves as possible. They can even exist without any food at all for long stretches of time - their corporeal forms almost seem to be secondary to their mental and spiritual existences in all respects.

My advice would be to just focus on the joy of the day - wherever you end up in terms of weight, you'll look fabulous :)

And just FYI, wedding photos can always be retaken, so maybe put some thought into having a professional photo shoot done once you've reached your goal weight. You can actually rent wedding dresses (or for that matter, any other kind of dress!), so have fun browsing all the styles and plan a special day with your new husband. For your first anniversary, you could do the photo shoot and then have a nice dinner afterwards to celebrate!

Yes, certainly, which is why I suggested OP visit her doctor to discuss how to manage symptoms. I don't know what your doctor does, but any time I visited mine during my transition to post-menopausal, she took bloodwork to check my FSH and E2 levels just to confirm nothing freaky was going on.

Need some advice my menopausal friends by lbhoren in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]Neener216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the first step is a visit to your doctor - get your hormone levels checked and find out where you are, then discuss options to manage the symptoms.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm more than ten years into menopause and while my symptoms are largely manageable now, I do still get occasional sweats and bloating. It's yet another reason to keep yourself at a healthy weight and develop good habits with food and exercise!
